According to Jinshi reports, the Houthi armed forces in Yemen are considering imposing fees on merchant ships passing through the southern Red Sea. The Houthis announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia on July 20, opening a new front against the United States and its allies, and expanding the scope of attacks on oil tankers. Sources say the Houthis are studying the imposition of fees on most vessels passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, with the implementation time yet to be determined. This move aims to normalize the practice and increase pressure on the United States.
