0G launched "Compute Finance (ComFi)", a new financial system centered around AI computing power as its core asset
As the AI trust layer and cutting-edge AI laboratory, 0G officially launched Compute Finance (abbreviated as ComFi) today, a new financial layer built around AI computing power. ComFi allows users for the first time to turn digital assets into computing power that can be "actually used across multiple AI services," rather than just earning interest or tokens. It consists of two initial products: Ascend (now live), which serves as a liquid staking entry point, and Infinite AI / iAI (scheduled to launch on September 29), which focuses on computing power.
1. Computing as an Asset: Why We Need "Compute Finance"
Computing power has long been the "physical commodity" of the AI economy: it is produced on a large scale, rented globally, and priced daily, yet it has never had its own financial layer. ComFi aims to fill this gap—allowing users to "hold computing power rights, earn computing power, and consume computing power across AI services."
In the narrative of ComFi, every type of scarce asset goes through three steps: first produced, then priced, and finally financialized. Computing power is entering the third stage—where the supply-side infrastructure, demand-side market scale, and pricing mechanisms have matured, what is lacking is the financial layer surrounding it. 0G positions ComFi as an "open category" within the entire AI ecosystem rather than a proprietary brand, with the relevant white paper published at 0g.ai/blog/compute-finance.
2. User Journey: Stake → Mint → Earn → Use
Stake 0G → Obtain a0G → Mint iAI → Stake iAI → Earn Compute → Use AI
Ascend provides underlying staking and liquidity, while Infinite AI converts this position into "truly usable" AI computing power.
3. Ascend: The Entry Point to ComFi
Ascend is the liquid staking product of the 0G ecosystem and serves as the entry point to ComFi. Users stake 0G into Ascend to receive a0G, retaining the staking rewards of the underlying 0G while maintaining composability at the DeFi level. Currently, a0G is the only asset that can mint iAI—this also means that Ascend is effectively the front door to the "making money with computing power" model.
4. Infinite AI (iAI): Computing Power Equals Returns
Infinite AI (iAI) is a new digital asset launched by 0G, scheduled to go live on September 29. It connects digital assets with the "right to use AI computing power": users first mint iAI using a0G, then stake eligible iAI to earn Compute Credits that can be used across the entire range of 0G AI products.
Michael Heinrich, co-founder and CEO of 0G, stated:
"Stocks brought dividends, PoW introduced new participation rewards, and DeFi expanded the boundaries of digital asset usage. Compute Finance explores another model—connecting digital assets with the 'right to use AI computing power.' Ascend and Infinite AI are our first implementations of this idea, and we believe it opens up new imaginative spaces for collaboration between AI infrastructure and digital assets."

6. Where Can Computing Power Be Spent?
Compute Credits obtained through iAI can be used in 0G's two major consumer products:
● 0G Private Computer: A platform for private, verifiable AI, integrating over 100 AI models.
● 0G App: Users can converse with AI, build, and publish AI applications.
This means that computing power is no longer just an "infrastructure cost," but an "asset that users can spend."
7. Team and Early Investor Token Unlock Extended by One Year
With the launch of ComFi, the 0G Foundation also announced adjustments to the token unlock plan for the team and early investors. This portion of tokens accounts for a total supply of 44%.

The Foundation stated that this extension reflects the current real stage of 0G: the infrastructure is live, and the next step is to turn it into real usage for developers, entrepreneurs, institutions, and ordinary users. The first cohort projects from the Apollo accelerator have been adopted to build on 0G, and the 0G Compute Network has already served over 100 AI models.
"0G is evolving into the reserve currency of Compute Finance. As we enter the next chapter, our earliest supporters proactively chose to delay the unlock by one year to align long-term ownership with the long-term value being built." — Michael Heinrich, co-founder and CEO of 0G
8. About 0G
0G is the trust layer for AI and a cutting-edge AI laboratory. It develops the 0GM series foundational models and builds security, alignment, and verification layers around these models. Its complete tech stack also includes: private computing, encrypted storage, and an AI-native EVM L1 public chain, aimed at ensuring that all AI workflows, including inference to agent behavior, can be verified and audited.
