first_img Analysis: Federal Reserve Chairman Waller downplays the decline in inflation, Bitcoin falls below $80,000

According to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin failed to effectively break through the $80,000 mark, with BTC/USD dropping to $78,442 on the Bitstamp platform, a decline of about 1% for the day, after Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Walsh delivered a cautiously toned speech in Jackson Hole. In his speech, Walsh reaffirmed the Fed's commitment to the 2% inflation target and downplayed the significance of the recent decline in CPI and PCE data.Walsh stated that although these broad inflation indicators have significantly retreated from their highs a few years ago, the progress over the past two years has been relatively modest. The better-than-expected PCE and CPI readings this summer do not indicate that the underlying trend has materially improved. He also noted that the forward guidance, a conventional practice introduced during the financial crisis, "is now outdated" and will not return in the future. U.S. stocks were not weighed down by his remarks, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices both rising by about 0.5%.On-chain data shows that there is a dense resistance zone between the current spot price and $86,000, which suppresses upward momentum. QCP Capital analysis pointed out that even if the price breaks through, the derivatives market needs to support it by controlling funding rates and the growth rate of open interest. The key is whether the subsequent market movement is driven by spot participation or leveraged positions. As of the time of writing, BTC/USD has risen 26.35% this month, marking the best August performance since 2017.

first_img The net inflow of the US spot Ethereum ETF reached $225.8 million in a single day, setting a new 10-month high

The US spot Ethereum ETF recorded a net inflow of $225.8 million on Thursday, marking the strongest single-day performance in 10 months and extending the streak of consecutive net inflows to 9 trading days. Data from Farside Investors shows that since August 17, a total of $1.42 billion has flowed in over 9 trading days, with BlackRock's ETHA fund contributing $1.02 billion, accounting for 72% of the total inflows in this category, and there has not been a single day of net selling during this period.Fidelity's FETH became the second largest inflow source with $56 million, while BlackRock's staked Ethereum product ETHB added $20.7 million on the same day. The gap between Ethereum ETFs and Bitcoin ETFs has narrowed to nearly even, with Bitcoin ETFs seeing inflows of $242.3 million on Thursday, just $16.5 million more than Ethereum. Ethereum was priced at approximately $2,477 on Friday, down 0.5% in 24 hours, with a weekly increase of about 5%.Max Shannon, Senior Research Assistant at Bitwise Europe, stated that the funds primarily came from outside the crypto space, with inflows of $713.6 million this week, possibly driven by an increase in risk appetite in traditional markets. He also pointed out that Ethereum's spot trading volume has fallen back to the 16th percentile year-on-year, and if the market is to maintain its upward momentum, spot trading volume needs to recover.

DWF Ventures: The rapid rise of social trading, platform competition is shifting from trade execution to social networks and information advantages

DWF Ventures released a report stating that as trading fees continue to approach zero, social trading is becoming a new direction for financial trading platforms to compete for users and build moats. The rise of social trading stems from users seeking validation from others and references for investment decisions. From early brokerage copy trading to investment communities like Reddit and Stocktwits, and now to platforms that combine real position verification, trading signals, and social relationships, social trading is evolving from a simple copy trading tool into a product form that integrates trading, content, and social interaction. As trade execution becomes increasingly homogenized, the future competitive advantage of platforms may come more from network effects, resources of well-known traders, and exclusive information and distribution capabilities.Analysis suggests that social trading platforms are forming a clear growth flywheel: platforms attract well-known traders and their fans, traders build reputations through public trading, fans amplify market influence by following trades, which in turn increases the visibility of traders and the user base of the platform. Public calls for trades may even generate a certain "self-fulfilling" effect in this process.Platforms also lower the entry barriers for users through one-click trading, low-threshold acceptance, trading competitions, and fee incentives, and leverage the social influence of top traders to facilitate user migration. In the future, the social trading ecosystem in the cryptocurrency and traditional stock sectors may further integrate, and platforms that master trader, user attention, and information flow are expected to form stronger network effects. However, social trading also faces significant structural risks. Data shows that among approximately 292,000 wallets analyzed by the Fomo platform over the past three months, only 6.16% achieved profitability based on realized gains. Followers lack independent investment logic and are easily influenced by herd behavior, while there may also be conflicts of interest between traders and followers.Furthermore, even if platforms can verify public positions, traders may still establish undisclosed positions through other wallets, making information asymmetry difficult to eliminate completely. Analysis suggests that as the boundaries between trading and entertainment continue to blur, platforms that can establish unique information layers, gather quality traders, and form network effects may gain an advantage in the competitive social trading market.

a16z raises $1.1 billion for a new fund: focusing on the construction of a full set of infrastructure for AI operations

Silicon Valley's renowned venture capital firm a16z has announced that it has raised $1.1 billion for its latest fund, the Machine Age Fund, which will focus on investing in the full suite of computing infrastructure that supports AI operations, including chips, memory, networking, storage, as well as complete systems such as data centers, robots, and home AI devices.a16z stated that over the past year, there has been a significant turning point in the growth of AI in terms of application capabilities and types of work. As AI expands from chat and reasoning further into programming and other knowledge work, the demand for computing power and tokens is experiencing exponential growth, and machine intelligence is accelerating its deep development.a16z indicated that its team possesses extensive experience in hardware, data centers, chips, networking, and large-scale computing systems. They have also established a resource network covering market expansion, talent recruitment, marketing, customers, suppliers, and American manufacturing, which will further support the next generation of AI hardware entrepreneurs. a16z mentioned that we are currently at an important juncture in the transformation of computing paradigms and look forward to collaborating with entrepreneurs dedicated to reconstructing AI hardware and advancing the arrival of the "Machine Age."

first_img Analysis: The demand for AI infrastructure is longer than that of the internet, and general programming still drives ARR

Analysis of the AI semiconductor and infrastructure cycle indicates that the demand for AI infrastructure will continue to exceed that of the internet era, as user penetration and per capita token are multiplied and converted into tokens, significantly raising the ceiling. User penetration has surpassed 50%, with growth primarily coming from the still-early per capita token; the median monthly AI spending per employee in U.S. companies is about $12, which could long-term approach around 10% of white-collar salaries, approximately $1,000 per month, leaving nearly two orders of magnitude of space in between. Unlike the flat subscriptions and extremely low marginal hardware consumption of the internet, the high costs of inference make the marginal cost of a single access higher, requiring greater infrastructure intensity. After developers program, the next ARR growth will still mainly come from broad programming: non-programmers use programming infrastructure to complete non-programming tasks across industries, with programming becoming the default execution kernel for agents. Tasks related to broad programming account for about 60% to 70% of ARR. As of June 2026, Codex accounted for 64% of the total output tokens from Codex and ChatGPT among OpenAI's enterprise clients; since February, Codex has seen a much higher weekly growth in verticals such as law, sales recruitment, and marketing compared to engineering. In Anthropic's revenue, narrow development/software accounts for about 40%, while finance and insurance exceed 20%, with law, life sciences, retail, and others also having considerable shares. The demand-side token growth logic remains, with a high overlap between funders and beneficiaries.
