first_img Optimum Blockchain Transmission Layer mump2p launched on the Ethereum mainnet, ether.fi requires all nodes to adopt

A network startup company called Optimum, led by Professor Muriel Médard from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, announced that its block propagation software mump2p has officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet. The Ethereum liquid staking protocol ether.fi has made mump2p a mandatory requirement for all 12 of its node operators, whereas previously the software was optional for its operators.Optimum stated that there are currently 16 node operators running mump2p in production environments, collectively managing approximately 22,000 validator keys and over 1.4 million staked ETH, accounting for more than 3% of the total staked amount on Ethereum. Partners include Blockdaemon, Everstake, P2P.org, Stakefish, and Bitcoin Suisse. The software operates in a sidecar gateway manner, not replacing Ethereum's default GossipSub, but rather overlaying it on top of libp2p and utilizing random linear network coding technology. Optimum claims that the block arrival speed is 2.42 times faster than GossipSub, with an approximately 7.88 times reduction in arrival time variance.Rok Kopp, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of ether.fi, stated that they will not require the entire validator set to adopt a new infrastructure unless they are confident that it can enhance the overall level of stakers and the network. Médard mentioned that traditional financial institutions invest billions of dollars to shorten execution times to the millisecond level because speed is money. Optimum launched its private testnet in June 2025, having previously completed a $11 million seed round financing led by 1kx, and plans to expand the protocol to other high-throughput blockchains after Ethereum.

Coinbase report: Stablecoins transfer over 400 million dollars on average per hour, with 73% of transactions occurring outside of U.S. banking hours

According to a report by The Block, Coinbase released a report titled "The Always-On Dollar" indicating that in the third quarter of 2026, the average hourly transfer amount of organic stablecoin transactions exceeded $400 million. Over the past 12 months, as of July 31, approximately 73% of filtered stablecoin transfer volume occurred outside of U.S. banking hours, highlighting the demand for 24/7 stablecoin payments. The report shows that the adjusted quarterly transfer volume of stablecoins has grown to four times its original amount since the beginning of 2023, reaching $891 billion in the third quarter of 2026. At the current growth rate, this figure is expected to reach $1.5 trillion by the end of 2027. The report also noted that using USDC to remit $200 through the Base network can save about 86% in fees compared to traditional payment channels. Furthermore, if 80% of global international transactions shift to stablecoin payment networks, the global annual GDP could increase by an additional $155 billion.Looking ahead, the report believes that stablecoins are likely to become an important payment infrastructure for the AI agent economy. McKinsey estimates that by 2030, between $3 trillion to $5 trillion in B2C commercial transactions will be facilitated by AI agents, with stablecoins supporting small transactions such as payment task fees between agents, purchasing API calls, and on-demand access to data and computing power.

first_img Over 10,000 complaints have been filed against the UK's banking crypto transfer restrictions, with Lloyds and Barclays being named

According to Cointelegraph, the crypto advocacy organization Stand With Crypto stated that during a 90-day period from May to August 2026, a total of 9,803 individuals submitted 10,092 complaints to UK banks through the organization's online tools, reflecting the restrictions encountered when transferring to crypto platforms. The highest number of complaints came from Lloyds Banking Group, one of the largest banking groups in the UK, totaling 2,297, followed by Barclays with 1,569 and NatWest Group with 1,278. These complaints have raised concerns about the accessibility of crypto services in the UK ahead of the launch of a new regulatory framework for digital assets in 2027.The report shows that UK banks have varying practices regarding restrictions on crypto transfers. Barclays and HSBC UK are listed as limiting crypto transfers to £2,500 (approximately $3,300) per transaction and £10,000 (approximately $13,300) every 30 days. Six banks, including Starling Bank, TSB, and Chase UK, are listed as completely prohibiting transfers related to crypto.Meanwhile, Lloyds Banking Group and Revolut are classified as having not disclosed their restrictions on crypto transfers, despite also receiving customer complaints. Revolut's official support page states that transfers to "certain cryptocurrency exchanges" are not supported, and a spokesperson for Stand With Crypto indicated that this seems to be a technical issue rather than an established policy.Nick Jones, founder and CEO of Zumo, told Cointelegraph that banking restrictions are a common issue faced by crypto founders in the UK, which could undermine the country's ambition to become a global crypto hub. He stated that the issue of limited access to banking services needs urgent resolution so that UK crypto businesses can grow and expand in a fair environment.Jones also warned that the upcoming crypto regulatory framework in the UK may not address this issue. Although businesses are preparing for mandatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) by October 2027, obtaining business bank accounts is not included in that framework. He added that without coordinated action, businesses may obtain full authorization but still be unable to open UK business bank accounts.

X-Agent on-chain data is growing rapidly, x402 payments have surpassed 680,000 transactions

X-Agent's latest Dune data shows that as of October 20, the platform's related on-chain activities have reached 1,268,897 transactions, with the number of Agentic Wallets reaching 39,649. At the same time, a total of 680,285 x402 payments and 233,188 AI Activity Syncs have been generated. From the Dune trend data, X-Agent's on-chain activity saw significant growth in October, with Transactions rapidly increasing in volume for the month, and x402 Payments also experiencing notable growth recently. Compared to traditional AI products that mainly measure user numbers, conversation volume, and model invocation counts, what is more noteworthy in this data set is that AI Agents within the X-Agent ecosystem are gradually generating real, verifiable on-chain economic activities.Through the infrastructure of Agentic Wallet, x402 payments, and AI Activity Sync, Agents are evolving from mere information exchange tools to economic participants capable of executing tasks, using wallets, initiating payments, and generating on-chain records. This further validates the path of the Agent Economy that X-Agent is promoting: Build → Act → Pay → Verify. From "creating AI Agents" to "enabling Agents to truly execute and transact," X-Agent is attempting to connect Agent capabilities, on-chain execution, and payment settlement into a complete closed loop.As the scale of x402 payments and Agentic Wallet continues to grow, the Agent Economy is gradually transforming from a concept into real network activities that can be directly observed and measured by on-chain data.
