first_img OpenAI's new model Astra can autonomously discover and exploit software vulnerabilities, rated as "critical" in cybersecurity capability level

OpenAI stated that its upcoming Astra model can autonomously discover previously unknown software vulnerabilities and convert them into usable attack vectors without human intervention, making it the company's first model to reach the "Critical" cybersecurity capability level threshold. In a blog post released on Tuesday, OpenAI mentioned that according to its Preparedness Framework, reaching this level means the model can discover zero-day vulnerabilities and develop usable exploit code in hardened real systems without human involvement, or design and execute attacks based solely on a high-level objective. In testing, Astra achieved a 100% score in benchmark tests for developing exploit code based on known vulnerabilities and discovered two previously unknown vulnerabilities in another internal test. Additionally, the model successfully broke through a hardened browser sandbox and executed commands on the host machine, while gaining root access by exploiting multiple weaknesses in the operating system. OpenAI stated that it has delayed some of Astra's development progress to enhance security measures and plans to make its advanced cybersecurity capabilities available only to selected testers. This capability is particularly relevant to the cryptocurrency industry, as software vulnerabilities can be converted into financial losses within minutes. CoinDesk reported in June that increasingly powerful AI models can compress the process of searching code, discovering misconfigurations, and assembling attacks from days or weeks to machine speed. Security researchers noted at the time that the significant change was not the emergence of new categories of attacks, but rather the dramatically increased speed at which existing vulnerabilities are discovered and exploited.

first_img Bitwise launches an automated portfolio based on Coinbase tokenized stocks

Digital asset management company Bitwise announced the launch of a Tokenized Stock Automated Portfolio (ATP), allowing eligible investors to hold and automatically rebalance a basket of U.S. stocks directly in their crypto wallets. These products utilize tokenized U.S. stocks recently launched by Coinbase, with rebalancing executed by portfolio technology provider Glider based on a model designed by Bitwise, currently available only to qualified investors outside the U.S.The first portfolios cover configurations focused on AI, robotics, and an expanded version of the "Big Seven" U.S. stocks, which includes weighted allocations to Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla, along with SpaceX. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan stated that for over a century, accessing professional models meant handing assets over to funds, whereas ATP allows investors to keep their assets in their own wallets while the model actively seeks them out.The announcement came a day after Coinbase launched tokenized stocks for Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet on the Base network. Bitwise is an asset management company managing approximately $9 billion in assets and has recently ventured into on-chain asset management businesses such as DeFi treasury curation. Glider is a specialized firm in automated portfolios and earlier this year collaborated with Ondo Finance to provide personalized portfolios using its tokenized stock products.

hot_img AWS officially launches Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments, allowing AI agents to autonomously and securely complete payments

AWS announced that the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments service is officially fully available (GA). This service collaborates with Coinbase and Stripe, enabling AI agents to autonomously pay for paid APIs, MCP, and content services with just a few lines of code. AgentCore payments integrates Coinbase and Stripe Privy wallets, supporting small transaction payments in USDC stablecoin. Users can recharge the agent wallet and authorize the agent to spend using credit cards or USDC.The service supports the x402 protocol and MPP protocol, with a new "upto" payment scheme that allows agents to set spending limits instead of fixed prices, enabling dynamic billing based on actual reasoning usage. It includes built-in payment session limits (maximum spending per interaction and expiration time), which will be rejected if exceeded, and integrates AgentCore Observability to provide visual dashboards for transaction audit logs, success rates, and average transaction values.Related features have been integrated with CDNs such as Amazon CloudFront and Cloudflare, and clients such as Anchor Browser, SpreadX, and Travala are already using this service. AgentCore payments is now available in multiple regions, and developers can integrate it through the console, CLI, and open-source frameworks like LangGraph and OpenClaw. The launch of this service is a key step in the evolution of AI agents from "reasoning and action" to "autonomous transactions."

Coldcard has suspended the automatic deletion of customer data due to a security incident and will retain relevant records in accordance with the law

The cryptocurrency hardware wallet manufacturer Coldcard has released an update on its customer data retention policy. Due to legal compliance requirements arising from the security incident disclosed on July 30, the company has temporarily suspended its original automatic customer data deletion mechanism.Previously, Coldcard's standard practice was to automatically clear customer records after 120 days, retaining only the user's email address and country information, while allowing customers to request early deletion of data at any time after product delivery. Coldcard stated that due to the security incident involving ongoing and potential legal proceedings, the company is obligated to retain records that may be relevant to litigation. Therefore, customer data that was originally scheduled for deletion will be temporarily retained until the law permits the resumption of normal processes. However, users can still request Coldcard to handle their personal information according to the original data retention policy. If users wish for their data not to be included in this legal retention scope, they can contact official customer service to make a request. Coldcard emphasizes that the retained data will be strictly protected, accessible only to authorized personnel, and will not be used for any purposes other than fulfilling legal obligations. The company will restore the previous automatic data deletion mechanism once legally permissible.
