ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, Taiwan's cryptocurrency exchange Bitopro confirmed that its old hot wallet was attacked during a wallet system upgrade in May, resulting in losses exceeding $11 million. The exchange stated that it has immediately replenished the stolen funds and transferred assets to a new wallet, ensuring that user assets were unaffected, and all deposit, withdrawal, and trading functions are operating normally.The attack was initially revealed by blockchain detective ZachXBT, and the stolen funds were laundered through decentralized exchanges and privacy protocols before being deposited into the Bitcoin mixer Wasabi Wallet. BitoPro is currently collaborating with a third-party cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident and plans to announce a new hot wallet address to enhance transparency.

Suspicious fund outflows were observed in hot wallets across multiple chains including Tron, Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon, with assets being rapidly sold off through DEX markets.The stolen funds were subsequently transferred to Tornado Cash or cross-chain to the Bitcoin network via Thorchain and deposited into a Wasabi wallet. As of now, BitoPro has not officially disclosed the incident, only informing users that the exchange is in a "maintenance" status.

ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, Taiwan officially established a cryptocurrency industry association today. According to a statement released by the organization on Thursday, a total of 24 cryptocurrency companies have joined the Taiwan Virtual Asset Service Providers Association, and these companies have registered with the Financial Supervisory Commission as anti-money laundering compliant companies.The association will be chaired by Titan Cheng, the founder and CEO of BitoPro, one of Taiwan's major exchanges. Winston Hsiao, the co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer of XREX, will serve as the vice chairman of the association.

The working group is required to complete all preparations and officially establish the cryptocurrency industry association by the end of June.The working group currently consists of 22 cryptocurrency companies, including major Taiwanese exchanges such as MaiCoin and BitoPro. The working group noted that it has removed ACE Exchange from the group, as this troubled exchange is under investigation by prosecutors due to alleged misconduct by former executives.
