The Ethena Foundation announced four major adjustments to the ecosystem: repurchasing ENA and canceling monthly VC unlocks

According to official news, the Ethena Foundation announced four adjustments to the Ethena ecosystem, including repurchasing locked tokens held by early investors, further aligning the value of tokens with equity, launching a governance proposal for income to repurchase ENA, and canceling future monthly unlocks for VC investors. The Ethena Foundation stated that it has completed the acquisition of all locked ENA tokens from some major seed round investors who had sold ENA in the past 9 months. Regarding the alignment of token and equity value, the Ethena Foundation and Ethena Labs have reached a "Master Framework Agreement," which stipulates that the intellectual property and value generated by the agreement will exclusively belong to the foundation and be governed by ENA holders, while equity investors in Labs entities will no longer enjoy residual cash flow.In addition, the governance proposal for income to repurchase ENA has been launched. According to the proposal, the net income generated by all business lines under the Ethena brand will be used for programmatic repurchase of ENA, and the proposal has been approved by the Risk Committee. The Ethena Foundation also stated that it has reached an agreement with major investors to eliminate the selling pressure caused by future monthly unlocks for VC investors by releasing unallocated tokens. Team tokens will still remain locked according to the original allocation plan.

first_img Jensen Huang defends Nvidia's AI ecosystem financing, stating that the risks are relatively low

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang defended the company's increasingly expanding role in financing the AI ecosystem on CNBC's "Mad Money," calling the investment in cutting-edge labs a "once-in-a-generation" opportunity and stating that the risks are relatively low. He pointed out that the outside world overlooks a key point: these are the first batch of startups that require hundreds of billions of dollars in funding, with a very high capital intensity for building and deploying AI. NVIDIA has invested in model companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as new cloud service providers, and has provided financial support for data center projects, including $105 billion in support for a large computing power park in Ohio (with OpenAI as a tenant), and has collaborated with Wall Street institutions to arrange up to $500 billion in data center financing. In response to criticisms of "circular financing" and comparisons to similar internet bubbles, Huang stated that NVIDIA hopes to become an equity investor in cutting-edge AI labs and provide broader support, as these companies do not yet have investment-grade qualifications and low-cost financing records. He emphasized that the invested capital will yield substantial returns and that the risks are low because the computing infrastructure can be redeployed to other clients and workloads when the supported companies encounter difficulties. NVIDIA just announced better-than-expected results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027: revenue of $96.2 billion, more than doubling year-on-year; data center revenue increased by 117% to $89 billion, and it is expected that revenue will grow by about 70% in fiscal year 2028. Following the announcement, the stock price rose about 4% in after-hours trading.

first_img Market news: It is rumored that TSMC is investing over 30 billion yuan to acquire AUO's two factories, laying out the CPU ecosystem

According to the Industrial and Commercial Times, there are widespread rumors in the market that TSMC intends to invest over 30 billion New Taiwan dollars to acquire AUO's two old-generation panel factories, L7 and L5C, located in the Central Taiwan Science Park, adjacent to TSMC's plant, to reserve space for large-size packaging such as CoPoS and FOPLP. Informed sources indicate that TSMC has sent personnel to complete on-site audits, and AUO plans to prioritize the disposal of the two factories, aiming to submit to the board of directors in October, with an estimated completion of production line relocation and factory vacating by the end of the first quarter next year. Both TSMC and AUO have not confirmed this transaction.Semiconductor industry analysts suggest that TSMC is extending from the A14 advanced process and advanced packaging to the COUPE silicon photonics platform, leveraging Taichung's role as a hub for precision optical components to build the Central Taiwan Science Park into a CPO ecosystem. TSMC's existing Fab 15A in the Science Park mainly uses a 28-nanometer process and can support the manufacturing of silicon interposers; the second phase of the Science Park, Fab 25, is planned to build four A14 wafer fabs, with the first two already entering steel structure construction, and the first factory striving for completion before April 2027. The existing advanced packaging and testing facility AP5 in the Science Park has already started CoWoS production, and in the future, it will integrate electronic and photonic chips through the COUPE platform. On the optical side, Largan Precision has recently acquired land and factories in Nantun, Taichung Industrial Zone, and nearby precision machinery clusters, with three transactions totaling approximately 2.568 billion, interpreted by the market as a warm-up for CPO mass production. The company has obtained its first mass production order for fiber optic arrays, with the first automated trial production line aiming for completion by the end of the third quarter, and mass production expected as early as mid-2027, while also laying out micro-lens arrays and integrated FAUs.

Jason Fung, Head of Global Partnerships: The prediction market should not only be a "trading market," but should also become an open ecosystem for users to create markets

On August 21, the GATE ZONE fireside chat event took place in the Summer Bay area of Coinfest Asia, where Gate Head of Global Partnerships Jason Fung shared insights on the theme "Predicting the Biggest Market Opportunities." He discussed the competitive landscape of prediction markets, user-created markets, the Builder ecosystem, and future market opportunities. Jason Fung stated that as on-chain prediction markets continue to develop, industry competition will no longer focus solely on liquidity and trading volume. Instead, lowering the barriers to market creation, diversifying market types, and enabling more users to participate in market building will become important directions for the future development of prediction markets.Regarding the recent launch of the event contract Builder by Gate DexBuilder, Jason Fung mentioned that enabling users to create markets independently is an important step towards the openness of prediction markets. By lowering the barriers to creating and launching event markets, users can quickly build markets around popular events and explore more niche themes and potential demands, thereby driving the evolution of prediction markets from a product form dominated by a few platforms to a more open market ecosystem.Jason Fung believes that there are still many opportunities in prediction markets that have not been fully explored, and their application scope is expected to continue extending from popular fields such as politics, sports, crypto, AI, and entertainment. As more developers and entrepreneurs enter this space, the Builder ecosystem, market diversity, and user experience will become important driving forces for industry development, and on-chain event markets are expected to further expand from early user groups to a broader user market.
