fomo

Fomo is an abbreviation for "Fear of Missing Out," which means "fear of missing out syndrome." In the cryptocurrency field, it refers to the anxiety that investors experience due to the fear of missing potential investment opportunities. This emotion often leads investors to rush to buy assets when the market is rising, which can result in irrational investment decisions. Fomo is particularly common in the crypto market due to its volatility and rapid price changes, making investors susceptible to market sentiment, which in turn affects their investment strategies and risk management.

Binance Security Announcement: Please iPhone users check if FomoPeek is installed, as it can exploit iOS vulnerabilities to gain maximum access to the device

Binance Wallet Security Announcement: iPhone users please check if you have installed the FomoPeek application. Binance has noted a recent security incident disclosed by the community. According to security companies such as SlowMist, the third-party application FomoPeek (versions 1.1-1.2) contains malicious code that can exploit vulnerabilities in the iOS system to gain maximum permissions on the device and may access sensitive data stored on the device, including private keys, mnemonic phrases, login credentials, chat records, files, etc. Please note that such malware directly attacks the device itself. If the attack is successful, all application data on the affected device may be accessed. Please check the following:Are you using an iPhone or iPad running iOS 26.x or earlier?Have you installed the FomoPeek application? If both of the above apply to you, it is recommended to take the following steps immediately:Delete the FomoPeek application and do not reinstall it.Update the iOS system to the latest version. For users with self-hosted wallets: Create a new wallet on a device that has never installed the application and transfer assets to the new wallet address. If you notice any unusual asset activity, please retain the affected device and relevant evidence, and contact customer service for further investigation. At the same time, all users are reminded: Do not install applications from untrusted sources and keep your device software up to date.

Slow Mist: FomoPeek versions 1.1–1.2 contain malicious code, which may lead to the leakage of private keys and mnemonic phrases

Slow Fog released a security warning stating that it has recently received multiple reports of FomoPeek users' assets being stolen. After a joint investigation with the OKX security team, it was found that some affected users had previously installed or used FomoPeek versions 1.1 to 1.2, which contained malicious code.Slow Fog stated that there are modules in FomoPeek unrelated to normal business, one of which includes a kernel exploit framework targeting the iOS system, supporting eight different attack methods that can automatically select the exploitation method based on device model and iOS version. Affected systems include iOS 12 to 18.7 and iOS 26 to 26.1. If the exploitation is successful, the application may break through the iOS sandbox and access and decrypt Keychain data, leading to the leakage of private keys, mnemonic phrases, login credentials, and other sensitive files. In addition, FomoPeek also connects to hidden servers unrelated to its public services and can receive remote commands.Slow Fog indicated that its analysis of captured plaintext traffic shows that the related attack functions are currently enabled and will run automatically on a regular basis. Slow Fog recommends that users who have installed or used FomoPeek versions 1.1 to 1.2 immediately check for any anomalies in their assets, generate new private keys and mnemonic phrases on trusted devices that have never installed the application, and transfer assets to new accounts as soon as possible, while also upgrading to the latest iOS version and not continuing to use or reinstall FomoPeek.

Bonk Guy: The Fomo project will complete integration on Arc within a few days

Bonk Guy (Unipcs) posted that Fomo is expected to complete integration within a few days after the launch of the Arc chain, which changes its short-term judgment on Arc. He stated that builders related to Arc have recently contacted early on-chain traders multiple times, indicating their desire to generate early traffic for the new chain through Meme coin activities.Bonk Guy believes that the main opportunities on-chain this cycle are still concentrated in Robinhood, BNB, and Solana, and does not think Arc will become the next mainstream chain. However, he pointed out that Fomo has not yet integrated Hyperliquid, Tron, or TON, all of which have seen Meme assets with market capitalizations exceeding 100 million dollars. Therefore, if Arc connects with Fomo early after its launch, it could bring short-term trading opportunities. He revealed that he has purchased the native token LONG of the main launch platform Long, as well as the top three Meme coins on that platform. His core judgments include: Fomo will integrate Arc, Arc is actively attracting early on-chain traders, and Arc may learn from Robinhood's path of launching ecological growth through Meme activities. Bonk Guy also emphasized that the layout related to Arc is a short-term high-risk experiment and reminded to currently avoid using trading bots like Basedbot and GMGN to prevent significant slippage due to routing to incorrect liquidity pools.

first_img Fomo and Robinhood Wallet credit card purchases of Memecoin suspected of circumventing card organization crypto regulations

The Block's investigation shows that on the social trading app Fomo and Robinhood's self-custody wallet Robinhood Wallet, users can directly purchase Memecoin using credit cards via Apple Pay or Google Pay without completing a separate KYC identity verification. Transactions can also accumulate points or cash back rewards as normal credit card rewards. The media tested the purchase of WIF, and transactions on the Visa and Mastercard networks were classified under merchant category code MCC 5815 (digital goods media), rather than the cryptocurrency asset categories MCC 6012 or 6051 as stipulated by card organization rules, which typically come with crypto tags and do not earn rewards. These transactions are supported by the Token Checkout product from the crypto infrastructure company Crossmint. Crossmint insists that this classification is appropriate, citing the joint guidance released by the SEC and CFTC in March of this year, which views certain Memecoins like WIF as "digital collectibles." However, Chase stated that the Visa transaction was not marked as a cryptocurrency purchase and that the classification was incorrect, and they have initiated a case review with Visa; the New York Attorney General's office also stated that it is reviewing the matter. Vanderbilt University law professor Yesha Yadav and other payment experts believe that the SEC's position and card organization rules represent "two completely different systems."
