Bitcoin rises to reclaim market focus: companies accelerate accumulation of BTC and ETH

The rebound in the cryptocurrency market has prompted companies to increase their allocation of crypto assets. As the price of Bitcoin rises, Bitcoin mining companies that had actively shifted towards AI businesses have once again become high-beta targets in the BTC market, and the strategy of directly holding Bitcoin on corporate balance sheets has regained market attention. Data shows that Bitcoin rose by about 23% by the end of August, with some mining companies' stock prices increasing by 41% to 67%, outperforming several AI infrastructure companies. The market believes that the U.S. Treasury's expansion of bond repurchases, the White House's positive signals on crypto regulation, and the liquidation of over $1.6 billion in short positions have collectively driven the rise of related assets. In terms of corporate accumulation, Strive purchased 1,800 BTC in the last week of August, costing about $143 million, increasing its total holdings to 23,156 BTC, making it the fifth largest publicly traded company holder of Bitcoin; Strategy simultaneously increased its holdings by 4,603 BTC, with total holdings exceeding 845,000 BTC. Meanwhile, 21 large financial institutions, including Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup, plan to establish a new company and intend to launch a U.S. dollar stablecoin in the first half of 2027, subsequently expanding to other G7 currencies for cross-border payments and digital asset settlements.Regarding Ethereum, Bitmine has continuously increased its ETH holdings for 65 weeks, with the latest holdings exceeding 5.9 million ETH, accounting for 4.9% of Ethereum's circulating supply of about 120.7 million ETH, just one step away from its 5% holding target. Despite the continuous accumulation, the company's current ETH holdings still face an unrealized loss of about $5.1 billion.

Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issues the Artificial Intelligence Small and Medium Enterprises Entrepreneurship Support Plan

According to a report by the Financial Associated Press, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued the "Entrepreneurship Support Plan for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Artificial Intelligence (2026-2028)." Over three years, it aims to cultivate a large number of innovative and dynamic artificial intelligence startups with significant growth potential in key areas such as industry applications, data services, and intelligent computing power. More than 10,000 new technology and innovation-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises will be nurtured, with over 2,000 "specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative" small giant enterprises emerging, along with a number of gazelle and unicorn companies.Focusing on the field of artificial intelligence, the plan will establish 10 high-standard technology enterprise incubators and 10 national public service demonstration platforms (bases) for small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also cultivate 10 national-level characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises. The entrepreneurial and innovative vitality of small and medium-sized enterprises in artificial intelligence will continue to surge, and a preliminary pattern of high-quality development for small and medium-sized enterprises empowered by artificial intelligence will take shape.

first_img Bitcoin's correlation with gold has risen to a six-year high, Bitwise states that depreciation hedging trades are making a comeback

Bitwise's latest report shows that the correlation between Bitcoin and gold has risen to a six-year high. Bitwise's Head of Research for Europe, André Dragosch, stated that the last time the correlation reached this level was in 2020, during the period of multiple fiscal and monetary stimulus following the COVID-19 pandemic; meanwhile, the correlation between Bitcoin and the stock market has dropped to a one-year low, suggesting a decoupling between hard assets and the stock market. The report believes that the simultaneous rise of Bitcoin and gold is due to the "substantial intervention in the macro picture" by the U.S. government. Last month, the U.S. Treasury announced it would more than double the scale of government debt buybacks, leading to a weakening of the dollar, and investors flocked back to gold and Bitcoin; in the same week, U.S. public debt surpassed $40 trillion for the first time, further undermining market confidence in the dollar. Bitwise stated that investors are no longer entangled in whether to hedge against currency depreciation with gold or Bitcoin, but are holding both simultaneously, and pointed out that "Bitcoin has been priced as a risk asset for its first fifteen years, and if this correlation trend continues, the next fifteen years could be very different."Driven by this, Bitcoin rose again this week, increasing nearly 6% within 24 hours, with the price briefly approaching $81,438.

Analysis: The allocation of Bitcoin long-term holders has risen to 281,900 coins, an increase of 61.5% compared to August 18

CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr stated that from August 18 to 28, the 30-day cumulative distribution of Bitcoin long-term holders (LTH) increased from 174,500 to 281,900, a rise of 61.5%, reaching the highest level since 2026 on August 28. This metric accelerated significantly during the rapid rebound after the short-term squeeze in Bitcoin, indicating that long-term holders are taking profits as prices rise.Meanwhile, the LTH MVRV rose from 1.31 on August 18 to 1.64 on August 27, remaining at a level of 1.6 on August 31, which means that the market value of Bitcoin held by long-term holders is approximately 60% higher than their average realized value. This suggests that despite the increase in distribution activity, long-term holders still possess significant unrealized profits. Axel believes that the price rebound after the short-term squeeze has simultaneously elevated the profit levels of long-term holders and the speed of token distribution, creating conditions for further profit-taking. If Bitcoin prices remain stable, long-term holders may continue to release supply, adding extra selling pressure to the market. The current key issue for the market is whether the high-level distribution by long-term holders will continue and whether new buying can absorb this additional supply; otherwise, the market may face price pressure again.
