Data: Bitcoin's second round of price increase saw profits drop by 19%, with profit-taking weaker than in August

According to Axel Adler Jr's monitoring, although the price of Bitcoin has further risen to around $87,000, the market's profit-taking pressure is weaker than in August. During the second round of price increases, profits realized were 19% lower than during the first round, and losses also decreased. At the peak of the first round of increases on August 26, the price of Bitcoin was about $78,600, with profits realized over the past 7 days reaching $9.1 billion; at the peak of the second round on September 24, the price of Bitcoin rose to $84,100, with profits realized over the past 7 days amounting to $7.3 billion, a 19% decrease from the previous round. During the same period, losses realized over the past 7 days dropped from $2.6 billion to $1.5 billion. As of today, Bitcoin's net realized profit over the past 7 days is $4.3 billion. The Short-Term Holder SOPR has remained above 1 since August 20, indicating that the overall Bitcoin transferred by short-term holders is still in profit, but the profit margin has narrowed. At the peak on August 26, the corresponding profit margin for short-term holder SOPR was 2.8%; it dropped to 1.6% at the peak on September 23; and as of today, it has further decreased to 1%. During the pullback of Bitcoin to $76,500 on September 17, the short-term holder SOPR fell to a low of 1.003, with the profit margin for short-term holders transferring Bitcoin narrowing to 0.3%, but it did not fall below 1.

first_img TSMC plans to build a second campus in Texas, with an estimated investment exceeding Arizona

According to the Economic Daily, citing sources from the semiconductor equipment industry, TSMC plans to expand its manufacturing presence in the United States. Following Arizona, it is set to initiate plans for a second park in the U.S., with a high likelihood of establishing six advanced wafer fabs in Dallas, Texas. Reports indicate that if the second park is launched, the total investment is expected to exceed the $265 billion in Arizona, linking Arizona's wafer manufacturing with Texas's advanced ecosystem. As of September 28, the reporter has not received a response from TSMC; supply chain operators stated that the owner has not yet notified preparations, and the board has not yet made a decision. The total investment in TSMC's wafer fab in Phoenix, Arizona, has now increased to $265 billion, with plans including six wafer fabs, two advanced packaging plants, and a research and development center. Reports suggest that TSMC's considerations for increasing its overseas presence include proximity to customers, diversification of geopolitical risks, and overcoming resource limitations such as land, water, and electricity in Taiwan. U.S. customers accounted for approximately 75.64% of TSMC's revenue in the first half of 2026.There are widespread rumors in the industry that TSMC is responding to demands from customers like NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, and Apple for local production in the U.S., while facing pressure from the U.S. government, which has threatened that chip manufacturers must relocate back to the U.S. or face tariffs of up to 200%. Dallas and North Texas are known as the "Silicon Prairie," with local factories established by Texas Instruments, Coherent, Samsung, and Tesla. Reports indicate that the Arizona facility still faces challenges such as water shortages, power shortages, and labor shortages, while Texas offers talent, lower tax burdens, and stable electricity, leading supply chain operators to believe that site evaluations are nearing completion.

first_img Samsung Electronics accelerates the construction of the first mass production line in Pyeongtaek P5, with the equipment introduction target moved up to the second quarter of next year

According to a report by ZDNet Korea on September 28, Samsung Electronics is accelerating the construction of the first mass production line (Ph1) at the Pyeongtaek Fifth Campus (P5) and is discussing with major equipment manufacturers to move the target for Ph1 equipment installation from the originally planned third quarter of next year to the second quarter of next year. P5 is the next-generation semiconductor production base aimed to be operational by 2028, and the construction of the Ph1 cleanroom began in the third quarter of this year.Samsung Electronics had previously advanced the completion of the P5 Ph1 cleanroom, originally scheduled for early next year, by about six months, so the equipment installation is expected around the third quarter of next year. Industry insiders say that the start time for equipment installation is planned to be moved up from July to August next year to around May to June next year; others have indicated that Samsung has even proposed to deliver equipment in the first quarter of next year for temporary storage at other locations, showing a strong willingness to invest early.Discussions on the investment for the second phase of P5 (Ph2) are also progressing. Currently, Ph1 is more likely to be built as a DRAM and HBM production line, while Ph2 is more likely to be built as an advanced NAND production line, including the tenth generation (V10). Equipment industry insiders say that formal purchase orders have not yet been placed, but Samsung has discussed building Ph2 as a NAND production line with partners, and due to the long equipment delivery cycle, they are requesting to prepare relevant components in advance. Reports indicate that large global tech companies are increasing orders for high-performance DRAM and NAND for AI infrastructure, while storage companies like Samsung have limited production capacity. Samsung stated during the second quarter earnings call in July that unmet demand this year will extend into next year, and the supply shortage next year will be more severe than this year, with shortages expected to continue until 2028.

first_img CPO equipment supplier orders are visible until the second quarter of next year, Zhidé and Gaoming Iron are starting factory expansions

According to the Economic Daily, the shipment of optical CPO related equipment for joint packaging is increasing. Suppliers such as ZhiDe, GaoMingTie, and DongYouDa have stated that orders from Europe, America, and Asia are flooding in, with order visibility extending to the second quarter of next year, and they are simultaneously starting factory expansions. Customers' demand for high-precision motion platforms and automated optical coupling equipment is increasing, with a noticeable rise in clients from Southeast Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia, in addition to major manufacturers in Europe and America.ZhiDe stated that after receiving thousands of orders for international CPO equipment, they have recently made new gains and are negotiating cooperation on CPO alignment modules with domestic and major manufacturers in Europe and America, with overall orders initially looking at a thousand units. The company is expanding production in the Shugu Garden and Nanke Park in response to demand, expecting to launch new capacity in the fourth quarter and continue to ramp up production next year.GaoMingTie has been certified by the world's top ten optical communication brands and has secured orders for 800G and 1.6T optical module coupling alignment modules, with optical communication product revenue accounting for 79% in the first half of the year. The company has acquired about 60% equity in an optical and medical factory in Taichung, and after establishing a production assembly line, the estimated capacity can be expanded by more than double, with the Dongguan subsidiary expected to ramp up production after mid-next year. DongYouDa is collaborating with the Japanese company Junhe on CPO optical coupling equipment, with order visibility extending to the second quarter of next year, and has already initiated plans to establish factories in Vietnam, India, and Mexico, increasing capacity utilization from 70% by the end of 2025 to 80%.
