Analyst: Recent negative rumors about NAND have been exaggerated; SanDisk's low-priced LTA is a strategic choice rather than weak demand

Citrini analyst Jukan published a response to the recent market rumors regarding bearish notes on NAND and negative news about QLC price negotiations. It is not surprising that SanDisk accepted a price lower than the initial offer when signing a long-term agreement with Meta, as SanDisk is one of the most proactive NAND manufacturers in pursuing LTAs, planning to allocate over 50% of its total shipments to such agreements. Based on this strategy, it is naturally willing to accept LTA prices lower than the current quarterly contract price, and it cannot be inferred that "SanDisk cannot seamlessly resell all orders to higher-bidding North American customers."In response to rumors that Chinese module manufacturers were rejected by domestic CSPs when promoting eSSD, Jukan explained that Chinese CSPs have direct procurement channels with Yangtze Memory Technologies and that the issue is not a lack of demand. Regarding the claim that large-scale cloud providers are driving down prices for QLC eSSD, leading to some volumes not being sold, he believes that new cloud providers have sufficient demand to absorb these volumes.Jukan concluded by stating that negative headlines are more easily amplified when storage stocks perform poorly, but the fundamentals have not shown substantial deterioration. He reiterated that he remains bullish on storage. Previously, Jukan had stated that DRAM contract prices still have about a 40% upside potential until the end of 2027, and HBM supply continues to be tight. This clarification on the NAND side further solidifies his bullish stance on the entire storage sector.

Approximately $200 million in trades on Polymarket in the first half of the year were flagged as potential insider trading

According to Bloomberg, as prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi expand, the issue of betting using non-public information or informational advantages is receiving more scrutiny. Bloomberg Businessweek analyzed approximately 34,000 potential insider trading cases flagged by Polysights between August 2025 and June 2026; these related trades exhibited characteristics such as newly created accounts, low probability entries, large bets, or high trading concentration, but it cannot be determined that traders violated rules based on this.Data shows that from January 1 to June 30 of this year, the amount of suspicious trades flagged on Polymarket was approximately $200 million, with geopolitical and war-related markets driving a significant increase in abnormal trading volume. The profits from potential insider trading are highly concentrated, with the top 1% of accounts in profit wallets earning more than half of the gains, and 57% of related wallets created less than 24 hours before the trades. Some traders are reducing the likelihood of being discovered by using multiple associated wallets and splitting orders. For example, 38 associated addresses placed bets in 90 geopolitical markets related to Iran and Venezuela, achieving a win rate of 98%, with total profits of $1.6 million, and withdrew funds using the same Coinbase deposit address.Polymarket stated that it will monitor insider trading and other illegal activities, and has so far referred nearly 100 wallets to law enforcement agencies. Kalshi has also strengthened identity and employment information checks, and restricted participation in related markets by political candidates, athletes, and others who may influence outcomes.

The UK's fraud review suggests that judges accept training on crypto money laundering and AI fraud, mentioning over 61,000 BTC seizure cases

A fraud review commissioned by the UK government suggests that the Judicial College should provide training for all judges and magistrates in England and Wales to address the increasing cases involving AI fraud and the use of cryptocurrency for money laundering. The report states that the overall Fraud Act 2006 can be used to handle AI fraud, but the issue lies in the courts' lack of preparedness to hear related cases. The report recommends evaluating whether the existing "long and complex trials" course should be updated or replaced with specialized modules on fraud and related crimes, and considers mandatory training for judges who may hear complex fraud cases. The report claims that fraud could soon account for half of all crime in England and Wales, with an estimated 4.1 million cases occurring within a year by June 2025, affecting 1 in every 14 adults and 1 in every 4 businesses. The Financial Ombudsman Service estimates that currently over half of investment scams involve crypto assets. The report also mentions the case of Qian Zhimin, who operated a Ponzi scheme in China, defrauding over 128,000 victims of approximately £5 billion and laundering the proceeds into Bitcoin. This case resulted in the largest confirmed Bitcoin seizure in UK history, exceeding 61,000 BTC, and Qian Zhimin was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison at Southwark Crown Court in November.

Multicoin partners are bullish on HYPE reaching $319, suggesting investors build positions in batches

Multicoin Capital Managing Partner Tushar Jain shared in detail his valuation logic and investment framework for HYPE during the "When Shift Happens" podcast. He believes that HYPE is currently severely undervalued, with a benchmark valuation of $319, and recommends a pragmatic accumulation strategy to cope with volatility.Tushar candidly stated that trying to precisely time the market is nearly impossible. The recommended framework is: the first third: buy immediately (enter the market right away); the second third: invest according to a fixed schedule (for example, in batches over 1-2 months); the third third: increase positions opportunistically when prices dip. This method can significantly reduce psychological burden while achieving a good average cost when optimistic about the long-term prospects of the asset.Tushar's valuation model is based on four relatively conservative assumptions: the trading volume of crypto derivatives will maintain a 35% annual compound growth rate over the next two years; the DeFi derivatives market share will increase to 32%; the USDC collateral balance will grow in sync with trading volume; and the "false prosperity" currently created by some projects relying on subsidies will disappear after the subsidies are withdrawn, leading to an increase in Hyperliquid's true market share. Even with these conservative assumptions, HYPE's current price still has significant upside potential, possibly exceeding $600 in some optimistic scenarios.Tushar believes that Hyperliquid is far more than just a rapidly growing perpetual contract platform; it is expected to become a core part of crypto financial infrastructure.

Over 1.2 million leveraged retail accounts in South Korea have triggered margin calls, with approximately 320,000 to 360,000 accounts being fully liquidated by brokers

According to Yicai, global chip stocks faced a Black Monday. On that day, during the Asian trading session, rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East suppressed risk appetite, with SK Hynix plunging over 15% on the Korean Exchange, marking the largest single-day drop in 18 years; the South Korean benchmark index KOSPI fell more than 9% in a single day, retreating 25% from its historical high on June 22.Data from the Financial Supervisory Service of Korea shows that the total amount of forced liquidations across the entire South Korean market reached 344.2 billion won in a single day, the largest scale of credit liquidation this year. Retail investors accounted for 92% of leveraged positions, referred to as "ant investors," who made full bets on memory chips and have very weak capacity to withstand volatility. As of Monday, over 1.2 million leveraged retail accounts in the entire South Korean market had reached the margin call line. Among them, approximately 320,000 to 360,000 accounts have been fully liquidated by brokerages, resulting in the loss of principal, with some accounts even owing debts to brokerages.Institutions believe that the short-term Gamma effect of leveraged shorts in South Korea cannot be eliminated, and the trillion-won level of leveraged selling pressure has not been fully cleared, with the risk of volatility still unresolved. However, this round of decline is not a reversal of the industry's fundamentals but rather a concentrated deleveraging event following macro shocks faced by crowded high-position leveraged trades.
