first_img TSMC accelerates its layout in CPO, and the industry is optimistic about forming a new Moore's Law

According to Taiwan's "Commercial Times" report on September 14, as the computing power of GPUs and ASICs continues to rise, traditional copper interconnects are gradually approaching the limits of power consumption and signal transmission. TSMC is accelerating its layout for co-packaged optics (CPO). The industry is optimistic that if CPO bandwidth continues to double every two years, it may form the "CPO Moore's Law" of the AI era. Industry analysis indicates that the upgrade of CPO bandwidth mainly has three paths: including increasing single-channel speed from 200G to over 400G, expanding the number of optical channels from 16 to 32, 64 or more, and introducing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). By 2040, the theoretical value could reach about 128 times the current level, with long-term potential for development towards hundreds of T based on the current level of about 3.2T.TSMC's role in optical interconnects has extended from wafer foundry to system integration, gradually integrating computing, HBM memory, and high-speed I/O from 3DFabric, CoWoS, SoIC to silicon photonics and CPO. When high-speed electrical signals exceed 200G, signal attenuation increases after passing through longer copper paths such as ABF substrates, PCBs, and connectors, leading the industry to develop shorter copper paths and longer optical paths. In terms of packaging architecture, the optical engine is currently laid out on the substrate, and the next step is expected to place CPO in the intermediary layer, with future possibilities of using SoIC technology to achieve 3D vertical integration of photonic integrated circuits (PIC) and ASICs. Industry players indicate that CPO still needs to overcome challenges in packaging, optical coupling, and testing before mass production can be achieved.

first_img Coinbase collaborates with Moov to provide stablecoin infrastructure for community banks

According to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has partnered with financial platform Moov to provide stablecoin infrastructure for over 1,000 community banks and credit unions within Moov's customer base. The two parties will combine Coinbase's regulated digital asset infrastructure with Moov's payment platform to offer stablecoin payment acceptance, settlement, and real-time funding services. This infrastructure will support use cases such as consumer stablecoin payments, merchant settlements, and payments, and will provide businesses and merchants access to Coinbase's custodial accounts. U.S. community banks typically have total assets of less than $10 billion, including state-chartered institutions and savings and loan holding companies. This collaboration comes as major U.S. banks are experimenting with stablecoin infrastructure. On Wednesday, U.S. Bank, the fifth-largest commercial bank in the U.S., completed a real-time cross-border payment using its proprietary stablecoin USBDC on the Stellar blockchain. Earlier this month, 21 financial institutions, including Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and UBS, announced plans to form a company to issue stablecoins. Additionally, Western Union also partnered with stablecoin infrastructure provider Rain in August to launch a digital wallet and Visa-branded card.

Gate launched a Mid-Autumn Festival limited edition gift box, connecting the festival's meaning with industry culture in the name of the moon

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the world's leading digital asset trading platform Gate has launched a limited edition gift box themed around the festival, specifically for global partners and VIP users. As an important traditional festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival carries cultural meanings of reunion, gathering, and good wishes. Gate also takes this opportunity to extend sincere greetings to global users and partners, further strengthening interactions with the community and ecological partners. The design of this gift box incorporates visual elements such as the moon and space travel, along with outdoor lifestyle products like picnic mats and inflatable sofas, extending the "moon viewing" imagery of the Mid-Autumn Festival into a more modern outdoor setting. It is worth mentioning that the lunar elements naturally resonate with the long-standing "To the Moon" culture in the cryptocurrency industry: on one end is the bright moon symbolizing reunion and good wishes in Mid-Autumn culture, while on the other end is the cryptocurrency industry's expression of exploration, breakthroughs, and future visions. From holiday gifts to brand cultural expression, Gate's Mid-Autumn gift box integrates the festival's meaning of reunion, outdoor lifestyle, and cryptocurrency culture into a single scene, conveying the spirit of the festival while also strengthening emotional connections with global users and partners in a more industry-specific manner.

first_img MoonPay integrates with Kamino, allowing AI agents to lend and borrow on Solana

MoonPay has integrated the Solana lending protocol Kamino into its AI payment vault PayBox, allowing eligible users to execute token lending or collateralized borrowing on Solana through conversations with ChatGPT or Claude. According to DefiLlama data, Kamino has a locked value of approximately $1.3 billion, with an active loan scale of about $1 billion. This integration does not create new loan products but replaces Kamino's original interface with natural language commands. Users can request that each transaction requires passkey approval or allow the AI to operate autonomously within preset limits. MoonPay launched PayBox in July, initially supporting payments, token swaps, cross-chain bridging, and earning through Aave. The integration of Kamino marks its expansion from AI payment tools into the credit management field.Currently, AI-based crypto applications are mainly focused on small, high-frequency payment scenarios. The x402 protocol developed by Coinbase has processed approximately $50 million and 165 million payments. This integration allows AI to manage user funds, with a single command capable of creating leveraged positions. If the value of the collateral falls and triggers Kamino's liquidation threshold, the position may be liquidated. This service is not currently available to users in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia, with specific availability varying by asset and jurisdiction.
