p2p

P2P (peer-to-peer) is a distributed network architecture in which individual nodes connect and communicate directly with each other without relying on a central server. This architecture is widely used in file sharing, blockchain, and cryptocurrency networks, such as the Bitcoin network, to enhance the security and censorship resistance of the system through decentralization. The decentralized nature of P2P networks provides higher efficiency and resilience in data transmission and storage.

first_img Optimum Blockchain Transmission Layer mump2p launched on the Ethereum mainnet, ether.fi requires all nodes to adopt

A network startup company called Optimum, led by Professor Muriel Médard from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, announced that its block propagation software mump2p has officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet. The Ethereum liquid staking protocol ether.fi has made mump2p a mandatory requirement for all 12 of its node operators, whereas previously the software was optional for its operators.Optimum stated that there are currently 16 node operators running mump2p in production environments, collectively managing approximately 22,000 validator keys and over 1.4 million staked ETH, accounting for more than 3% of the total staked amount on Ethereum. Partners include Blockdaemon, Everstake, P2P.org, Stakefish, and Bitcoin Suisse. The software operates in a sidecar gateway manner, not replacing Ethereum's default GossipSub, but rather overlaying it on top of libp2p and utilizing random linear network coding technology. Optimum claims that the block arrival speed is 2.42 times faster than GossipSub, with an approximately 7.88 times reduction in arrival time variance.Rok Kopp, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of ether.fi, stated that they will not require the entire validator set to adopt a new infrastructure unless they are confident that it can enhance the overall level of stakers and the network. Médard mentioned that traditional financial institutions invest billions of dollars to shorten execution times to the millisecond level because speed is money. Optimum launched its private testnet in June 2025, having previously completed a $11 million seed round financing led by 1kx, and plans to expand the protocol to other high-throughput blockchains after Ethereum.

first_img Zakura released the experimental P2Pv2, and the testnet is now running in dual stack

Zakura has announced an experimental network layer P2Pv2 for Zcash nodes, intended to replace the old protocol inherited from Bitcoin. This layer combines high-throughput networking, resource control, and a consensus engine tested for properties, allowing developers to add services without permission. Zakura states that approximately 50,000 transactions per second require each full node to continuously receive about 100MB/s of block data, while the 25-second block of NU7 can carry a maximum of 2MB, with existing network throughput differing by more than a thousand times from this rate. Tachyon can reduce the proof after entering the block, but the network still needs to propagate a large number of individual transactions.P2Pv2 replaces the protocol stack from about a decade ago with protocols that can be optimized for latency, throughput, or robustness, allowing a secure connection to carry multiple independent services. The transport layer uses its own zakura-quic, based on quinn-proto, utilizing QUIC and TLS 1.3, and authenticating peers with Ed25519 node identity. Related changes remove the dependency on Iroh, allowing nodes to configure socket buffers, flow control windows, timers, and connection admission before the TLS handshake. The new transport directly connects to peer addresses without using relays, external address lookups, automatic port mapping, or QUIC NAT traversal. Nodes sign identities, addresses, protocol scopes, and service IDs, allowing clients to find peers based on specific services. The independent component zakura-header-chain verifies block headers and retains competing branches in a directed acyclic graph, selecting the best qualified chain. Block synchronization schedules requests based on the delivery rates measured by each peer, and a verified commitment tree is used to skip the reconstruction of Sapling, Orchard, and Ironwood trees for each block. Currently, the Mainnet still defaults to the old P2P stack, while the Testnet and Regtest run dual stacks by default, with the native protocol version being p2p-v2/3. Zakura notes that P2Pv2 still has known denial-of-service risks and has not yet become a hardened trust boundary; production hardening, resource control, and block relay protocols are still in progress.

first_img Chainalysis: Canada’s cryptocurrency remittances to three Asian countries surged by 141% to 2.36 billion USD

According to a report by Cointelegraph, a recent report from Chainalysis indicates that remittances from Canada to India, China, and the Philippines have surged by 141% year-on-year, reaching $2.36 billion, with digital asset payments continuing to expand in these three major remittance corridors. In the 12 months ending June 2026, there were a total of 3.56 million related transactions, with an average amount of $663 per transaction. Chainalysis noted that these three countries accounted for an increase in the proportion of Canada's cross-border stablecoin outflows from 10.9% the previous year to 19.4%.Eric Jardine, research director at Chainalysis, cited additional data provided to Cointelegraph, stating that crypto remittances from Canada to the Philippines alone reached $61.02 million, involving 73,564 transactions, representing year-on-year growth of 28% and 34.7%, respectively. The analysis counted Bitcoin and stablecoins that circulated between personal wallets with amounts exceeding $10,000. Chainalysis listed Canada as the largest peer-to-peer (P2P) crypto economy among the G7 countries and believes that the large overseas-born population and the high costs of traditional remittance services are potential driving factors for its increasing adoption.Morva Rohani, executive director of the Canadian Web3 Council, stated in the report that about 23% of Canada's population is born overseas, the highest proportion among the G7, with frequent use of remittance corridors to India, the Philippines, Nigeria, Pakistan, and China. The report also found that in June, stablecoins accounted for 44% of the Canadian dollar-denominated order book trading volume, up from 30% a year ago.

P2P AI inference network Antseed completes $2.4 million financing, led by Spark Capital

According to official news, the P2P AI inference network Antseed has officially been released, while also disclosing that the nonprofit foundation Antseed Foundation has completed a $2.4 million token round of financing. Spark Capital led the investment, with participation from Collider, DCG, North Island Ventures, Reciprocal Ventures, Relay Capital, and Venice.ai.Antseed aims to apply BitTorrent's peer-to-peer model to the AI inference field, allowing different providers to sell models and Agent services directly. After running Antseed's local router on their computers, users can connect tools like Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, etc., to the same address. Each call is selected by the router based on price, speed, reputation, and privacy conditions, with fees settled directly in USDC on Base. Providers can run their own local models, fine-tune models, or offer other AI services and set their own prices. The biggest difference between Antseed and OpenRouter is that there is no unified platform responsible for forwarding in between. Buyers connect directly to providers, while Antseed is responsible for discovery, routing, reputation, and payment protocols. Ordinary providers can still see the requests they handle; users can also choose providers verified through TEE, allowing requests to run in a trusted execution environment.Antseed is also continuing to improve verification mechanisms such as model fingerprints, signature responses, and audits to prevent providers from misrepresenting cheaper models as more expensive ones. The code has been open-sourced, and the network is operational, although GitHub is currently addressing compatibility issues with Codex, Claude Desktop, and others.

first_img Chainalysis: The number of P2P stablecoin wallets in China has increased 43 times

According to Cointelegraph, a report by Chainalysis indicates that from the first quarter of 2024 to the second quarter of 2026, the number of independent wallets sending peer-to-peer (P2P) stablecoin transactions in China increased 43 times.During the reporting period from July 2025 to June 2026, Chainalysis recorded 18.1 million transfers involving self-custodied stablecoin holdings in China, totaling $10.41 billion. The annual turnover rate of stablecoin holdings was 33.2 times, more than three times the global average of 9.3 times. Chainalysis believes this characteristic aligns with users using stablecoins as working capital.Chainalysis estimates that the size of China's crypto economy is at least $176 billion, with domestic P2P activities accounting for 59.1%, which is 3.5 times the share during the 2025 reporting period. In March 2026, the volume of stablecoin transfers within China increased by $4.9 billion, marking the largest monthly increase during the reporting period. This growth occurred amid China's long-standing restrictions on crypto trading, as regulators introduced new rules in February targeting unauthorized RMB-pegged stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets.Chainalysis pointed out that China's P2P-dominated market contrasts with other markets in East Asia. South Korea, with $449.1 billion, has become the largest crypto economy in East Asia, with activity growing by 12.3% compared to the previous reporting period, and retail investors showing a preference for AI-related tokens. Institutional platforms in Hong Kong accounted for 16% of service inflows, nearly three times that of regional neighbors, and recorded nearly $24 billion in business-to-business inflows, issuing the first batch of stablecoin licenses in April.

first_img Chainalysis: Singapore's crypto economy grew by 55.4%, reaching a scale of 284 billion USD

According to Cointelegraph, data from Chainalysis shows that in the year leading up to June 2026, Singapore's cryptocurrency economic activity grew by 55.4% year-on-year, reaching a scale of $284 billion, reclaiming its position as the largest crypto economy in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania amid an overall contraction in the region. The increase was mainly contributed by institutional platforms, with such activities surging by 94% to $60 billion, concentrated among a few market makers, over-the-counter trading firms, and institutional brokers. During the same period, the total crypto economy in the aforementioned region declined by 6.8%.Chainalysis pointed out that the growth of Singapore's institutional ecosystem is highly concentrated, primarily reflected in large transactions on existing platforms rather than the entry of numerous new services. At the same time, Singapore is tightening cryptocurrency regulations while promoting tokenization, stablecoins, and digital asset settlements. In 2025, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) required local crypto companies providing services to overseas clients to obtain licenses or exit the market. StraitsX CEO Tianwei Liu believes this measure curbed speculative activities and increased the proportion of banks and large enterprises applying blockchain in production. MAS is also conducting compliance stablecoin and tokenized bank deposit pilots through the BLOOM program, with Ripple joining on March 25 to test cross-border trade settlements using RLUSD.The Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam excel in small P2P transfers. Chainalysis statistics show that the three countries collectively recorded 5.4 million domestic and international peer-to-peer transfers under $10,000, accounting for 14.4% of global similar transactions, but only representing 2.5% of the global crypto economy.

hot_img Bloomberg: TikTok is developing a P2P transfer feature, and the official says it has not been tested yet

According to Bloomberg, TikTok is developing a "peer-to-peer" payment feature that allows users to transfer money to each other via private messages, with evidence coming from the code of the U.S. version of the TikTok App. The interactive design of this feature is quite complete, allowing the recipient to "click to accept" to complete the payment, while the sender can attach a text message. Changes in transaction status will be communicated to the sender in real-time via push notifications, providing an experience similar to PayPal's Venmo.TikTok responded that this feature "is not currently in testing in any market," and the report also noted that there are no signs guaranteeing that TikTok will definitely launch this feature. However, the existence of the code, combined with TikTok hiring for financial services positions in multiple markets including the U.S., indicates that the company is exploring this direction.TikTok has accumulated payment experience in Southeast Asia, with its payment product TikTok Pay operating in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, primarily used for shopping payments on TikTok Shop. In the first half of 2025, Thailand's TikTok Shop GMV reached $5.419 billion, a year-on-year increase of 162%. TikTok has over 1 billion monthly active users globally, with about 170 million users in the U.S. Following the news, stocks of companies like PayPal saw a significant drop that day. Analysts believe that if this feature is implemented, it will have a direct impact on Venmo's position in the peer-to-peer transfer market in the U.S., where Venmo has about 67 million monthly active users. However, regulatory factors remain the main challenge for TikTok in expanding its payment business in the U.S.

NoOnes: Due to the impact of sanctions, operations will gradually cease

The peer-to-peer cryptocurrency trading platform NoOnes announced yesterday that it will begin to gradually shut down operations after more than three years of operation. The official statement indicated that it had previously sought to resolve and lift the sanctions against NoOnes, but ultimately was unsuccessful.NoOnes stated that the related sanctions led to the loss of key partners, while blockchain monitoring agencies marked transactions related to NoOnes as high risk, making it increasingly difficult for the platform to continue normal operations.According to the official schedule, the business contraction was initiated on August 17, and the P2P market will close on August 21 at 23:59 UTC. Services such as Swap, NoOnes Visa, fiat withdrawals, gift card store, and Bitcoin Lightning Network will also be gradually discontinued. After that, the platform will only support withdrawals, and users will still be able to log in, check their balances, and withdraw remaining assets. The official recommended that users complete asset withdrawals as soon as possible, no later than August 23.Previously, the peer-to-peer cryptocurrency trading platform NoOnes revealed that the platform had encountered a significant security breach, resulting in a loss of approximately $8 million in crypto assets. CEO Ray Youssef confirmed this news after on-chain detective ZachXBT disclosed the hack on his Telegram channel.
