first_img Lido will directly expand ETH staking to four Layer 2s

Lido announced the integration of direct ETH staking functionality for Arbitrum, Base, Linea, and Optimism Layer 2 networks into its official staking interface, which was announced on October 15. This process is supported by Chainlink's cross-chain interoperability protocol CCIP, allowing users to directly obtain wstETH on the originating network without manually transferring ETH across chains to Ethereum and back.Lido stated that users' ETH will be exchanged for wstETH through dedicated liquidity pools on the same L2, with the Chainlink price feed reflecting the exchange rate of the Lido protocol rather than the exchange market price. The underlying staking still occurs on the Ethereum mainnet: the ETH deposited by users on L2 will automatically be transferred to Ethereum and staked through Lido, after which wstETH will be sent back to replenish the local liquidity pool. Users receive the wrapped version of stETH, wstETH, which maintains a fixed balance while its value reflects staking rewards.This functionality integrates existing cross-chain infrastructure into Lido's own interface. Lido previously introduced relevant channels for Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism in October 2024, with third-party frontends including XSwap, OpenOcean, and Interport, while Linea followed up in October 2025. In terms of fees, users will still need to pay L2 transaction gas, and cross-chain costs come from the separately funded contract balance rather than staker deposits;

DeAgentAI launches $AIA principal-protected staking financial plan: full refund of USDC at maturity, plus an additional reward of up to 50% AIA

According to official news, the DeAgentAI token $AIA has been launched on the South Korean exchange Bithumb's Korean Won market, opening the AIA/KRW trading pair. Its principal-protected staking financial plan has also officially opened. Users can participate with USDC, and upon maturity, the platform will return the equivalent amount of USDC in full according to the product terms, while additionally earning rewards of up to 50% of the actual staked AIA amount.The plan features three staking pools: Ultra, Boost, and Fast, with total AIA rewards over a 12-month period being 50%, 40%, and 35% of the actual amount bought and staked, respectively. The first rewards from the three pools will be distributed uniformly after the fundraising period ends in the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st months, respectively, and will then be automatically distributed monthly. The amount of USDC returned at maturity does not fluctuate with the AIA coin price, and the originally bought and staked AIA will not be returned.The initial open quota is 500,000 USDC, with a minimum participation amount of 350 USDC per transaction, and it will close once full. Users can buy AIA using USDC on the BNB Chain through the official page and complete the staking in the same transaction. For participation methods and complete rules, please refer to the official staking page.

first_img The Ethereum staking withdrawal queue has decreased to 767,000 ETH, and the impact of MetaMask validators exiting has weakened

The Ethereum staking withdrawal queue has retreated from last week's peak. After MetaMask began withdrawing validators, the withdrawal queue once climbed to about 851,000 ETH, and is currently down to about 767,000 ETH. Previously, on September 29, the queue was only about 166,000 ETH, growing more than five times in just a few days, reaching about 2% of the total staked ETH of approximately 43.6 million.On September 30, MetaMask disclosed a security incident affecting some of its infrastructure and took the affected validators offline as a precaution. Its update on October 1 stated that the investigation found no signs of impact on wallets or customer funds. In addition to its wallet services, MetaMask also operates validators for the staking service provider Lido. Ethereum security researcher Kaden estimates that this precautionary withdrawal involves about 17,000 validators and approximately 523,000 ETH, although MetaMask has not confirmed this data.Lido expects that as the affected validators withdraw and their balances are extracted, these ETH will gradually be restaked, a process that may take about 45 days. During the downtime, the affected validators will miss out on rewards, and Lido stated that stETH holders do not need to take any action. Meanwhile, the demand for entering the staking queue has cooled, with about 1.5 million ETH waiting to enter, and the estimated waiting time is about 25 days.

first_img MetaMask Staking exits Lido validator due to infrastructure investigation

The liquidity staking protocol Lido announced that MetaMask Staking (formerly Consensys Staking) has taken precautionary measures to protect customer assets related to its Ethereum validators after investigating an infrastructure breach incident. The related measures include withdrawing its Ethereum validators from the Lido protocol, which may result in some loss of rewards. If the validators go offline recently to reduce potential network slashing risks, it may also incur downtime penalties.Lido stated that the related validators have begun to withdraw, with the last batch expected to complete the withdrawal by October 7, 2026, but full withdrawals may not be completed by then. stETH holders do not need to take any action. The ETH withdrawn from the validators operated by MetaMask Staking is expected to gradually return to the protocol during the cycle of the validators completing the withdrawal, withdrawing, and re-entering, with the estimated maximum duration of this process being about 45 days due to extended queuing times.Lido reminds that staking operations are non-custodial, and MetaMask does not manage withdrawal keys on behalf of customers. The diversified node operators of the Lido protocol and other security mechanisms, including a temporary reserve of over 6,750 stETH, are designed to control and mitigate disruptions to the normal operation of the protocol. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be announced separately.
