first_img Samsung Wallet launches stablecoin accounts, supporting USDC on the Solana blockchain

Samsung Wallet has launched a stablecoin account for eligible Galaxy users in the United States, allowing them to buy, hold, send, and receive USDC issued by Circle on the Solana blockchain without the need to download a separate crypto app or manage private keys. This feature covers approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the U.S.The service is built in collaboration with licensed stablecoin custodian and infrastructure provider Bastion and Coinbase, with Coinbase acting as a sub-custodian for Bastion to hold USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault. Samsung emphasizes that this account is a crypto wallet and not a bank account. Users can transfer funds to other Samsung Wallet users within the U.S. and compatible external crypto wallets without incurring Samsung fees, and they can also remit to qualified bank accounts in over 60 countries, with the recipient possibly receiving funds in local currency, and fees varying by destination. A 4% fee is charged for credit card top-ups, and withdrawals to bank accounts or debit cards incur the same charge. New users who top up $50 for the first time can receive $25 in USDC. The service requires Android 13 or higher and is available to U.S. residents aged 18 and over, excluding New York State.Lily Liu, Chair of the Solana Foundation, stated that stablecoins have proven the technology viable over the past decade, but what is lacking is a way to reach mainstream users. Woncheol Chai, head of Samsung's mobile business digital wallet team, mentioned that stablecoins are expected to make global fund transfers faster and more convenient, with Solana helping Samsung expand this experience to its scale. Samsung first announced this feature on October 7 and indicated plans to explore online and offline stablecoin payments while expanding to more markets in compliance with local regulations.

According to Cointelegraph, Kraken has restricted accounts related to a suspected theft of over $133 million in cryptocurrency assets involving an unnamed institution in Europe, and is cooperating with law enforcement to recover the funds. Kraken stated that this incident did not originate from its platform, its security systems were not breached, and customer accounts were not compromised.Previously, on-chain investigator ZachXBT discovered that the suspected stolen amount increased by an additional $27 million from the previously disclosed $106 million. Bitquery data shows that approximately $62.98 million in stablecoins was exchanged for 27,553 ETH within about 4 hours. Kraken, Crypto.com, and OKX have all been reported to be involved in the related fund flows, with Crypto.com taking measures to prevent the related funds from being transferred through its platform, while OKX stated that it is investigating. As of the reporting time, approximately $78.3 million remains in wallets associated with the attackers, while about $30.5 million has been transferred out. The identity of the victims and ZachXBT's speculation about a large financial institution in Western Europe being attacked and attempting to cover up the incident have not been confirmed.

first_img Polygon integrates Solana into the payment stack, connecting bank accounts with stablecoin payments

Polygon Labs announced that it has integrated Solana into its Open Money Stack payment platform, allowing the network's enterprise clients to connect their dollar bank accounts directly to the global payment network through a single API framework. The platform supports enterprises in depositing funds from bank accounts, transferring funds across chains, and making payments to recipients, while also providing functionalities such as customer accounts and wallets, currency exchange, and routing payments to supported bank accounts, debit cards, cash services, and cryptocurrency wallets.Kira is one of the first clients to use the Solana integration, helping clients convert between dollars and stablecoins, send payments through banking channels, and pay overseas suppliers. Kira's CEO Edrizio De La Cruz stated that the company has been using Solana to transfer stablecoins, and collaborating with Polygon allows these transfers to be converted into dollars in their bank accounts when clients need to pay suppliers. Open Money Stack simultaneously connects Polygon, Ethereum, and TRON, which was integrated earlier this month. This integration occurred after Solana activated the Alpenglow consensus upgrade a week ago, which reduced the final confirmation time for transactions from approximately 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. According to data from The Block, the total supply of dollar stablecoins has approached $290 billion, with USDT exceeding $182 billion and USDC nearing $76 billion. Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, stated that the volume of stablecoin transactions processed by Solana in 2026 has exceeded $5.5 trillion. Earlier this month, Polygon also completed the acquisition of Coinme, obtaining money transmission licenses and exemptions covering 48 states in the United States.

first_img Anthropic IPO documents show that cloud channel revenue accounts for 48%

According to a report by Financial Associated Press, based on the IPO filing released by Anthropic on Monday, sales generated from the cloud markets of the three major cloud service providers—Google, Amazon, and Microsoft—accounted for 48% of Anthropic's total revenue in the first half of 2026, up from 11% in 2023. These cloud service providers collect payments from customers and transfer them to Anthropic after deducting fees, with payments to channel partners increasing by $2.7 billion year-on-year in the first half of this year. The document shows that Anthropic's sales in the second quarter were $11.555 billion, with an operating profit of $974 million. The S-1 describes the aforementioned cloud service providers as simultaneously acting as investors, customers, distribution partners, and competitors, stating that they can understand Anthropic's pricing and commercial terms. It also mentions that these companies may prioritize promoting their own AI models, raising antitrust concerns. The document lists the minimum commitments for computing power as follows: at least $114.5 billion to Google by 2033, at least $110 billion to Amazon by 2036, and $44.9 billion to Microsoft; the minimum commitments remain valid regardless of whether the computing power is actually used. Additionally, it is expected that between 2028 and 2031, $125 billion to $150 billion will be paid for additional TPU computing power. In terms of equity, Amazon and Google currently hold shares without voting rights and are not included in the list of securities with more than 5% voting rights; after the IPO conversion, both will exceed 5% ownership of preferred shares and certain convertible notes. Amazon has invested approximately $18 billion to date and has committed to invest up to an additional $15 billion under specific conditions, with related notes convertible into a maximum of 1.84 billion shares, equivalent to 10.9% of fully diluted shares as of June this year, and subject to a 12% ownership cap. Google has invested approximately $23 billion and has committed to invest an additional $20 billion upon meeting certain conditions, with the latest agreement having a maximum ownership cap of 14.99%. The document also lists a $161.2 billion equipment leasing agreement related to Broadcom, as well as a computing power procurement arrangement with SpaceXAI for up to $120.5 billion.

first_img Blink Wallet charges a monthly fee of 1 USD for idle custodial accounts, encouraging users to switch to self-custody

Blink Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet, announced a monthly idle fee of $1 for custodial accounts that have not logged into the app for 12 consecutive months. This adjustment was initiated at the beginning of September through a change in the terms of service and push notifications were sent to inactive users, with the first deduction completed in mid-October. According to a blog post released by the company, users who log back in within 12 months will have the deducted fees refunded. This fee applies only to custodial accounts and aims to alleviate the burden that inactive accounts place on the startup. The announcement stated that these accounts incur ongoing costs related to ledger and infrastructure maintenance, record verification retention, compliance monitoring and reporting, as well as support for claims, which were previously shared by active users through regular in-app transaction fees. Sources told Bitcoin Magazine that approximately 100,000 accounts met the criteria for inactivity at the time of the first deduction, with a total balance exceeding $800,000. The first deduction collected about $45,000, primarily from accounts that had been idle for over a year with small Bitcoin balances. Blink Wallet originated from the Bitcoin adoption wave in El Salvador, initially named Bitcoin Beach Wallet, and was an early custodial Lightning Network wallet that introduced the Stable Sats feature to hedge value against the US dollar. The wallet was spun off from the founding company Galoy in October 2024, operated by Lukas Duczko and a new board, with Duczko holding a controlling stake, while Galoy continues as a service provider and minority shareholder, also establishing the Bitcoin Beach Fund.In recent years, custodial wallets have faced overall pressure, with Wallet of Satoshi, Alby, and Blue Wallet successively halting custodial wallet services and shifting to self-custody infrastructures like Spark. The EU MiCA regulations regarding licensing and KYC compliance requirements are an important backdrop. Blink launched a self-custody wallet supported by Spark in June 2026, and its user base is still adapting to this transition. On September 19, hackers withdrew 6.61 Bitcoins from custodial wallet users through compromised management tools, and the company's investors subsequently announced that they would fully compensate affected users.
