DePIN, short for Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network, is an innovative network architecture that combines blockchain technology and IoT devices. Its core concept is to manage and operate physical infrastructure, such as sensors and network devices, in a decentralized manner to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance security. DePIN utilizes smart contracts and distributed ledger technology to facilitate automated interactions and data sharing between devices, making it suitable for smart cities, supply chain management, and other fields.

first_img The Akash community will migrate from Cosmos to Solana through proposal 346

The Akash community approved the migration of the Akash protocol from the Cosmos independent chain akashnet-2 to the Solana mainnet through governance proposal 346. On-chain data shows that the proposal passed with approximately 97% in favor and a voter turnout of about 68.8%. Akash is an open computing platform aimed at the AI and inference era, gathering distributed computing power supply through a decentralized computing market. The proposal authorizes AKT to be issued as SPL tokens on Solana after the audit is completed at the token and migration portal, and opens a two-year one-way migration portal, allowing AKT holders to migrate to SPL AKT at a 1:1 ratio. Two independent code audits must be completed before the launch, expected to take place within 2 to 3 weeks after the proposal passes. After the migration is completed, the computing power trading market Akash Marketplace, the AI inference platform AkashML, and Akash Homenode will be natively deployed on Solana. The Akash team stated that the reasons for choosing Solana include lower transaction costs, a mature DePIN ecosystem, liquidity, and a large on-chain user base. The proposal did not set a date for the switch of the computing power market; the market migration will still need to be decided by a separate governance vote after the audits and migration rehearsals are passed, and subsequent on-chain decisions will involve market switch proposals, upgrade toggles, and downtime upgrades.

first_img Multicoin announced an investment in the bandwidth sharing network Grass

On September 29, Shayon Sengupta, a partner at the cryptocurrency investment firm Multicoin Capital, stated that Multicoin has invested in the decentralized bandwidth network Grass through its hedge fund and venture capital fund, referring to it as the reading layer of machine intelligence. Over the past 18 months, Grass has recruited contributors to share idle bandwidth through crypto incentives for querying and parsing the public internet, connecting data to the data pipeline of frontier labs. The article cites a report from Grass itself, stating that over 6 million contributors have received rewards denominated in USD, funded by the revenue generated directly from their contributions. Grass reported revenues of $17 million in 2025, with another $17 million recorded in the first half of 2026, with nearly all AI clients making repeat purchases. Grass claims the business is profitable and projects that revenue from training data alone will reach $75 million in 2026, with relevant figures coming from its call on July 7 to token holders and network participants.Sengupta wrote that Grass plans to launch a Contents API, allowing models to open and render public pages through residential networks, and plans to introduce a Search API along with web indexing. Grass has collected over 1 billion public internet videos, some of which are used with Multicoin portfolio company Inference.net for training video annotation models.

first_img Satellite communication company Space Network signs a $50 million pre-purchase in the Philippines

Satellite communication infrastructure company Space Network has signed a binding pre-purchase agreement worth $50 million with Philippine infrastructure company HQ Company International Holdings to provide satellite connectivity to the Philippines through the low Earth orbit satellite network Freeport. The signing ceremony was held at SKY 31 in Seoul, attended by Space Network CEO Tae Lim Oh and HQ Company CEO Yongsoo Samuel Cho.According to the agreement, Space Network will provide access to the Freeport network, technical hardware, software, and ongoing engineering support, while HQ Company will be responsible for local sales, customer acquisition, spectrum authorization, and regional service implementation. Cho is the son-in-law of former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos and has long been engaged in cross-border investment and infrastructure business in the Philippines. This agreement adds to the $100 million agreement signed by Space Network with Vietnam's DETI Technology in June 2026, bringing the total commercial pre-purchase amount to $150 million.Freeport is built and operated by Space Network, currently featuring 4 low Earth orbit satellites, with plans to expand to approximately 230 satellites by the time commercial services launch in 2029. Operators can purchase regional capacity and build their own services on the open network, with nodes settling through on-chain contracts. The related project Spacecoin combines blockchain protocols with low Earth orbit satellites for service pricing and payments within the network.
