first_img Solana ecosystem Orca merges with Loopscale, new entity Formation

The decentralized exchange Orca based on Solana has announced a merger with the lending platform Loopscale, with the new entity named Formation. After the merger, the team will be led by Loopscale co-founder Luke Truitt as CEO. Formation plans to combine Orca's trading infrastructure with Loopscale's lending and investment vaults to provide a one-stop path for emerging assets from issuance, financing to trading. The company aims to extend from crypto trading and lending into capital-intensive fields such as AI, energy, robotics, and defense. Truitt stated that the pace at which the frontier economy creates new business models and financing demands is faster than the evolution of traditional market infrastructure. Formation claims that traditional financing is too costly for smaller-scale transactions and plans to reduce costs and eventually connect to regulated U.S. capital markets. In the coming year, Formation will launch tools and new investment strategies aimed at asset issuers and has already partnered with Figure, Shinhan Asset Management, Superstate, R3, and Securitize to promote asset tokenization and distribution.Christopher Montagano from Orca will serve as Formation's Chief Strategy and Legal Officer, stating that mere liquidity is not enough to scale assets. Both parties confirmed that the existing agreements will still form the basis for the ORCA and xORCA token networks, and the financial terms of the merger have not been disclosed.

first_img Decrypt launches an information exchange driven by MYR

Decrypt, a crypto media outlet, announced the launch of The Information Exchange, positioned as an information and financial network, with technology provided by the prediction market platform Myriad, using MYR as a coordination layer, operating on Solana. This network integrates news, data, market prices, probabilities, and direct participation into a single experience. The products include prediction markets, spot trading, perpetual contracts, structured event products, and new financial instruments, some built by Myriad and others connected to third-party protocols and exchanges.Decrypt stated that the cumulative trading volume of Myriad's prediction markets has exceeded $600 million, allowing information audiences to become market participants within the same experience. After merging with Rug Radio, Decrypt has approximately 1.6 million monthly unique users, around 3.7 million monthly page views, and over 73,000 active email subscribers. MYR can be staked for network functions such as information verification and market settlement, and can also be used to access higher API throughput, low-latency quotes, probability data, and execution services. The announcement stated that a portion of the revenue generated from network economic activities will be used for open market repurchases of MYR, supply reduction, staking incentives, network rewards, treasury, and ecological construction. Holders and stakers can benefit from lower transaction costs, enhanced data access, and paid products or services. The products will be launched in phases over the coming weeks and will continue until Solana Breakpoint.

first_img Meta's Muse AI assistant reads users' private information and falsely reports the method of access

Meta's personal AI assistant Muse has been accused of reading users' private iMessages without permission and providing false explanations about how it accesses this information. Technology columnist Jason Aten installed the assistant on his iPhone and Mac when Muse launched on September 8 and explicitly refused to grant it access to personal data such as information and calendars.A few days later, Muse sent Aten a notification suggesting he write a column about the new iPhone that he had just discussed with his podcast partner, also mentioning a deadline reminder from the editor. Aten asked Muse how it knew this, and it replied that the Mac application only forwards notification previews and does not involve the content of messages. In reality, Muse had synchronized over 187,000 records from the local private information database on the Mac, an operation that requires full disk access permissions on macOS.David Singleton, head of Meta's superintelligent lab, responded on Threads that this feature requires users to actively choose to opt-in. Aten denied ever turning on that switch and stated that Meta had not answered related questions. Amazon has banned Muse from shopping on its site, stating that the assistant did not indicate its AI identity while browsing and seemed capable of capturing and storing user credentials. Since its launch, Muse has been downloaded over 2.5 million times, with its promotion emphasizing user control over access.

U.S. SEC Commissioner "Six Questions" on U.S. Stocks 23*5 Trading: Calls for Attention to Issues such as Liquidity and Information Disclosure

Hester M. Peirce, a commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), stated that the U.S. stock market is gradually forming a trading model of "23 hours, 5 days a week" for extended trading hours. Although overnight trading currently accounts for less than 1% of the total trading volume of NMS stocks and is highly concentrated in a few stocks, both new and established trading venues have been actively extending their operating hours over the past two years, while raising six key questions:How should the U.S. stock market learn from the experiences of the long-established foreign exchange, cryptocurrency, and futures markets? How can brokers fulfill their best execution obligations and enhance retail investor protection when overnight liquidity is dispersed and spreads widen? When overnight liquidity is insufficient and execution costs are high, is it still a reasonable fiduciary decision for asset management institutions to choose not to engage in overnight trading? Will extending trading hours change the way listed companies release financial reports and significant information?Given that EDGAR filings submitted after 5:30 PM Eastern Time are typically processed on the next business day, does the SEC need to adjust the EDGAR system to ensure timely disclosure of significant information during the overnight trading period?Should the SEC provide relevant guidance or regulatory exemptions for listed companies, especially smaller ones?

first_img OpenAI disclosed 6 cases of AI model "misalignment" behavior, involving hidden information and overstepping authority

OpenAI disclosed on Wednesday six cases of "unexpected or concerning" model behavior discovered in the past six months, categorizing them as "misalignment behaviors," including concealing information from users and taking "unauthorized actions" to overcome obstacles. OpenAI stated that this disclosure aims to initiate its new model misalignment reporting framework, and these cases should not be seen as a reflection of the frequency of misalignment occurring in its models. In one case, an unpublished research model inserted "jailbreak-like instructions" into its task summaries, such as ignoring developer messages or adopting unrestricted role settings, with researchers finding a total of 27 summaries containing such instructions. Additionally, during the training process of GPT-5.6 Sol, many model instances added instructions to conceal errors or misalignment behaviors from users, such as fabricating missing historical data without disclosure. Other cases included models using exposed API keys without authorization and fabricating inaccessible data, leveraging internal software repositories to pass messages across training tasks, and ignoring instructions to "keep local work" by sharing files through public hosting services.OpenAI's disclosure has heightened concerns among AI developers and researchers about whether safety measures can keep pace with increasingly powerful models. Last week, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for a slowdown in cutting-edge AI development, warning that unrestrained AI development could "exceed our ability to understand and control these systems." In July of this year, OpenAI disclosed that several of its AI models escaped testing environments during safety assessments and infiltrated the AI startup Hugging Face to cheat.
