The board of the Recall Foundation, a decentralized AI agent evaluation platform, announced that it will orderly liquidate the Recall Foundation in the short term, a decision made independently of Recall Labs. RECALL was launched in October 2025.Data from RootData shows that Recall has raised approximately $42 million in total funding. The board believes that continuing to develop the protocol is commercially unfeasible, and the announcement states that this decision was not caused by a hacking incident or security event. The foundation intends to transfer all RECALL it holds or controls to a designated empty address for destruction, expected to be 358,562,442 tokens, accounting for approximately 35.86% of the total supply of 1 billion tokens. After the destruction, the expected total supply will be 641,437,558 tokens. Holders will not receive any distributions, redemptions, or monetary compensation. Staked RECALL is not included in the destruction scope, and holders must un-stake and withdraw it themselves. From the date of the announcement, new un-staking applications will no longer have a 30-day cooling-off period. As of October 30, the foundation holds approximately $3.7 million in assets, intended to pay creditors and vendors about $3.45 million, liquidation costs of about $200,000, and reserve about $50,000 for contingencies. The foundation plans to voluntarily liquidate under Cayman law. On that day, new competitions and staking rewards will cease, and by November 30, the official application will switch to read-only mode, with final liquidation and destruction of remaining tokens expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

first_img Fields Medal winner: OpenAI destroyed my research field

According to a report by the Financial Associated Press, 2022 Fields Medal winner Hugo Duminil-Copin stated at the French Mathematical Society that his original research direction no longer exists. He said, "On Tuesday night, I cried, and my crying woke up my daughter. They (OpenAI) have destroyed my field of research." The report mentioned that at least 16 papers related to his long-term research interests were included in the results released by OpenAI earlier this month. The report noted that since April of this year, AI companies have frequently announced solutions to unsolved mathematical problems to showcase their model capabilities. Earlier this month, OpenAI released over 700 papers at once, claiming to have solved hundreds of previously unresolved mathematical problems. Stephane Mallat, a recipient of the 2025 Gold Medal from the French National Center for Scientific Research, stated that the emotional impact of AI achievements is significant, but society still needs mathematicians and opposes the notion that "mathematicians are no longer needed." Cedric Villani, the 2010 Fields Medal winner, remarked that in mathematics, the process of reaching conclusions is far more important than the conclusions themselves.Francois Charles, head of the mathematics department at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, stated that AI is changing the pathways for young people entering the mathematics field and pursuing PhDs, and concerns about talent development and career progression are valid; regarding the research itself, he believes that AI may help solve problems that were previously difficult to tackle. The Simons Foundation announced last week a $15 million initiative to help mathematicians cope with the changes brought by AI, with funding contributed by OpenAI and Anthropic, aimed at supporting workshops to evaluate AI achievements and establish standards for AI usage.
