first_img Canton CEO: The cryptocurrency industry needs to solidify adoption before 2028 to withstand shifts in U.S. policy

Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz stated at the Token2049 conference in Singapore that the crypto industry should leverage the current regulatory environment to accelerate institutional adoption, believing that the widespread use of blockchain will make it harder for future governments to reverse industry progress. He compared this opportunity to Uber and Airbnb, stating that both companies had established themselves before policymakers effectively restricted them, saying, "By the time people react and decide to legislate against these companies, it will be too late."Rooz indicated that the industry should ensure blockchain is widely used so that no matter what happens in 2028, "there is no turning back." The next U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 7, 2028, which may bring changes in government and regulatory priorities. This statement comes in the context of the CLARITY Act failing to advance in the Senate procedural vote in September, while the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have been advancing crypto regulation based on existing authority. In the same Token2049 panel discussion, Binance co-CEO Richard Teng expressed hope that the CLARITY Act could still become law, believing that legislation could prevent regulatory backtracking and encourage institutional entry, calling the possibility of reversing current progress the industry's "greatest fear." Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson stated that legislation would provide greater certainty, but the industry should not rely on the passage of the CLARITY Act, as the SEC and CFTC are already working to provide regulatory clarity to sustain innovation and institutional adoption.

first_img Ukrainian police dismantle cryptocurrency scam, with monthly thefts reaching 1 million USD

The Ukrainian police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) recently dismantled a scam network that used a fake investment platform to steal cryptocurrency. This network disguised itself as an investment platform website, luring users to connect their main cryptocurrency wallets and approve a small test transaction when withdrawing funds. Subsequently, it used a "wallet stealer" hidden within the website to automatically transfer user funds to wallets controlled by the operators, kicking victims off the platform. Investigators have currently confirmed 62 victims, with over 46 Ukrainian citizens involved, and the network could steal up to $1 million per month. The police stated that the false profits displayed on the platform are part of the scam, with operators manually creating transactions and adjusting user account balances to create the illusion of investment growth. In addition to cryptocurrency, the platform also collected victims' passport information, phone numbers, email addresses, login credentials, and photos during the registration and identity verification process. The main organizer of the network is a 25-year-old IT expert who recruited over 46 Ukrainian citizens and operated multiple offices in Kyiv and surrounding areas, with members responsible for building and maintaining fake websites, contacting potential victims, and providing security.Victims come from multiple countries, including Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Israel. The police traced the gang's server equipment located in the Netherlands and obtained a database stored there, which included a list of victims, cryptocurrency wallet addresses, suspected stolen amounts, internal communications, and platform operation information. The Ukrainian police and SBU subsequently executed 34 searches in Kyiv and surrounding areas, seizing over 100 computers, more than 100 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards, documents, cash, and 15 vehicles.

Bitget CFD Chief Analyst: On the eve of Jackson Hole, market focus shifts to inflation, long-term Treasury yields, and policy framework

Bitget CFD Chief Analyst Lewis Huang stated in a live broadcast that this week’s U.S. PCE data and the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Annual Meeting will become the market focus. The market is not only concerned about whether the Federal Reserve will adjust interest rates but will also pay close attention to how it responds to inflation remaining above the 2% target, high long-term Treasury yields, and fiscal pressures.Lewis Huang pointed out that if the core PCE is higher than expected and the Federal Reserve signals a continuation of tightening or emphasizes anti-inflation measures, U.S. Treasury yields and the dollar may receive support, while interest rate-sensitive assets like gold and the Nasdaq 100 may come under pressure. Conversely, if inflation data cools and officials express a tendency to retain policy flexibility, the market may re-evaluate future easing space, benefiting gold, non-U.S. currencies, and growth-oriented stock indices. This PCE data is generally in line with expectations, and the market focus has shifted to the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Annual Meeting. In addition, the situation in the Middle East and risks in the Strait of Hormuz may still push up oil prices and inflation expectations. Traders should closely observe the U.S. dollar index, U.S. 2-year and 10-year Treasury yields, and the correlation between gold and oil; after major data releases, it is advisable to wait for further market confirmation of direction to avoid using high leverage to chase the initial wave of trends.
