first_img Nvidia suspends part of its revenue-sharing financing arrangements with AI cloud companies

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nvidia has suspended some transactions in its new financing plan. This plan aims to provide credit support to AI cloud companies in exchange for revenue sharing. Insiders say that the chip giant withdrew from the related arrangements last week but may adjust the plan in the future or incorporate it into other projects.A Nvidia spokesperson stated that the new business model aimed at the rapidly growing AI ecosystem and open computing power access is still progressing and continues to evolve due to strong demand. The plan was announced less than two months ago, intending to support the financing needs of small AI cloud companies: if customers cannot sell computing power, Nvidia can lease back the relevant computing power, acting as a guarantee buyer, thereby facilitating companies in raising funds to purchase Nvidia AI chips; Nvidia would then share cloud revenue generated by customers based on its chips, in addition to hardware sales.Nvidia stated in this week's earnings call that this model is expected to contribute billions of dollars in revenue in the medium to long term. However, recent investor scrutiny regarding its capital flow back to the AI ecosystem has increased, raising concerns that so-called circular transactions may inflate demand. Reports indicate that some employees had expressed antitrust concerns to customers; in the early stages of the plan, Nvidia also faced dissatisfaction from some potential partners due to attempts to limit chip rental targets, preferring to distribute to multiple small customers rather than a single large customer, and requiring a 50% revenue share after reaching a certain threshold.

The Hyperliquid USDC reserve income sharing mechanism will launch on August 26, with an expected annual contribution of $200 million to buy back HYPE

The AQAv2 stablecoin model protocol of Hyperliquid has previously received support from 19 out of 26 validators, and the relevant mechanism is expected to officially start accruing yields on August 26. Meanwhile, Circle has transferred approximately $4.4 billion USDC to Coinbase via the AQAv2 mechanism on HyperEVM, setting a record for the largest single USDC transfer on HyperEVM.If everything proceeds as planned, the yields generated by AQAv2 will begin accruing on August 26, with the first payment expected to enter the Assistance Fund on October 3. AQAv2 (Aligned Quote Asset v2) is a stablecoin mechanism announced by Hyperliquid in May this year, allowing stablecoins, including USDC, which are not exclusively issued by Hyperliquid, to qualify as "Aligned." According to public information, most of the stablecoin yields from AQAv2 will be returned to the Hyperliquid ecosystem, with 90% of the yields allocated to the relevant mechanism, and subsequently, 100% used for the buyback and destruction of HYPE tokens.Coinbase has been designated as the fund deployment party, while Circle is responsible for technical deployment, and both parties will also stake HYPE to participate in the mechanism. The mechanism previously required stablecoins to be exclusive assets of Hyperliquid, but AQAv2 has removed this restriction and will focus on the HIP-4 standardized market and the perpetual contract market operated by validators. According to relevant public disclosures, AQAv2 is expected to generate up to approximately $200 million in revenue and further enhance token value capture through the HYPE buyback and destruction mechanism.

hot_img Alibaba plans to charge revenue sharing from commercial customers of open-source AI models, emulating the Kimi K3 model of the Dark Side of the Moon

According to Reuters, Alibaba plans to require its next-generation Qwen open-source AI model's heavy commercial users to share a portion of their revenue with it. This initiative is similar to the approach taken by Moonlight Dark Side with Kimi K3: the licensing terms for Kimi K3 stipulate that if the model is sold as a service and the annual revenue exceeds $20 million, a commercial agreement must be negotiated with Moonlight Dark Side, with reports suggesting a revenue-sharing ratio of up to 30%. The specific revenue-sharing ratio for Alibaba is still under discussion. The report points out that such revenue-sharing agreements have gradually taken shape between Chinese AI companies and American cloud platforms. Several American cloud providers, including DigitalOcean, have signed commercial agreements with Moonlight Dark Side. In terms of pricing, the input/output token price for Kimi K3 is about one-third that of the Anthropic Fable model. Additionally, Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has also joined the open-source camp and released its first open-source model last month. This move signifies that Chinese AI companies are exploring sustainable commercialization paths on open-source models through a "free open-source + commercial charging" freemium model.
