OpenAI's self-developed Git backend Pando has launched and has taken over the main code repository

After Cursor and Anthropic, OpenAI announced its self-developed Git backend Pando, which has now taken over the company's entire main code repository. Over the past year, Codex has enabled engineers to deploy a large number of Agents to write code simultaneously, resulting in an increase in code branches, pushes, merges, and pull requests. OpenAI's original system experienced frequent stalls and merge failures, with reliability even dropping below 90%.One engineer is responsible for the core architecture design, and multiple Codex Agent teams participated in the implementation, with Pando going into production in 10 weeks. This backend allows code pushes from different branches to be processed in parallel without queuing each other. When pulling code, data packets are no longer generated separately for each client but instead reuse existing Git data packets, distributing them directly through caching. After the transformation, the median latency of code pushes was reduced by nearly 80%, distributing nearly 1 PB of data daily, with a cache hit rate exceeding 99%, but different branches no longer guarantee to present the same state at the same moment.Cursor's Origin is still based on Git, primarily aimed at replacing GitHub as a code hosting service. Anthropic's Scion, on the other hand, has abandoned Git, placing commits, merges, and historical queries on the server side. OpenAI retains the Git client and protocol, only reconstructing the backend, so engineers and Agents do not need to change their original development processes significantly.

Multiple banks have launched wallet transaction printing in the Digital Renminbi App

According to the Digital Renminbi Operation Management Center, in order to meet the demand for transaction vouchers in scenarios such as visa applications and loan requests, operational institutions such as China Merchants Bank, Postal Savings Bank, and Agricultural Bank have launched a wallet transaction printing service within the Digital Renminbi App. Users can apply online for transaction vouchers in PDF format, or download transaction details in Excel format for reconciliation verification. More operational institutions will launch this service in the App in the future.Users can enter the transaction record page of the wallet to access transaction printing, select the time range and filter transaction types before submitting the application. The results can be viewed in the application records. After a successful application, users can preview online, save to local, share to WeChat, or fill in an email to receive the file. The maximum selectable time span for transaction printing is 2 years, and the end date can be chosen up to 2 days prior to the current date. Successfully applied documents are retained for 7 calendar days.In addition to the Digital Renminbi App, users can also apply for transaction printing through branch counters, mobile banking, self-service devices, and other channels. Anonymous wallets must first complete real-name authentication upgrades before this service can be used. For inquiries, please call the Digital Renminbi customer service hotline at 956196, or directly contact the relevant operational institutions.

first_img Delphi Digital: Electricity is a greater constraint on AI computing power deployment than chips

On October 29, the cryptocurrency research institution Delphi Digital released a report titled "The AI Boom Has a Power Problem," authored by Accelxr. The report states that deployable AI computing power depends on chip supply, as well as sites that are powered, cooled, and connected to the grid. Electricity is harder to supplement in the short term than chips, as chip production capacity can expand quarterly, while new power generation and transmission take years. The report cites data indicating that the PJM capacity auction has cleared at the price cap for three consecutive times, with the last two still falling short of reliability targets by 6.6 to 6.8 GW, marking the first time such a gap has occurred in the history of this auction. The scale of large load queues in Texas ERCOT increased from 63 GW at the end of 2024 to 474 GW in June, with about 90% being data centers; the governor requested an audit of the data centers in the queue in August, and ERCOT subsequently suspended power approval for data centers and cryptocurrency miners of 75 MW and above, including 17 projects that had passed stability studies. The report also states that U.S. data centers are expected to account for about 4.7% of the nation's electricity consumption in 2024, with LBNL predicting an increase to 9.5% to 15.3% by 2030, and EPRI estimating a maximum of 17%. In a 1 GW facility, chip depreciation is about $2.8 billion to $3.3 billion per year, equivalent to about $8 million per day. SemiAnalysis predicts that by 2028, the U.S. will have over 40 GW of data center capacity utilizing behind-the-meter power sources; the delivery cycle for large gas turbines is about five years, with GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries forming an oligopoly. Wood Mackenzie expects gas turbine prices to reach $600 per kilowatt by the end of 2027, nearly three times the level of 2019.
