According to ChainCatcher news reported by Cointelegraph, Pakistan's Prime Minister Sharif has appointed Bilal Ben Saqib, CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Committee, as the Special Assistant for Blockchain and Crypto Affairs, effective immediately.Saqib will serve in a ministerial capacity but will not receive a salary or official benefits. This move is part of a series of initiatives by Pakistan to promote the development of digital assets. Previously, the country allocated 2,000 megawatts of surplus electricity specifically for Bitcoin mining and AI centers, and supported the establishment of the Pakistan Digital Assets Authority (PDAA).As Special Assistant, Saqib will be responsible for drafting crypto regulations that comply with FATF standards, launching a state-supported Bitcoin mining project, and promoting the application of blockchain technology in government affairs, land records, and the financial sector.
