The South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit's parent company Dunamu announced on Friday that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Visa to jointly explore innovative financial services based on stablecoins and artificial intelligence. The two parties will combine Dunamu's digital asset technology with Visa's global payment network to develop new businesses such as stablecoin payments, cross-border remittances, and AI-driven finance, aiming to achieve safer, more transparent, and interoperable applications of digital assets and next-generation payments within a compliance framework. In the field of AI, the two parties will focus on exploring agentic commerce, where AI agents search for products or services on behalf of users and complete purchases and payments. Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok stated that the popularization of AI, stablecoins, and tokenization will profoundly change the way finance and commerce operate. Through cooperation with Visa, Dunamu hopes to connect digital assets with the existing financial system to create a perceptible global financial experience for users.Dunamu also mentioned in the press release that future cooperation will assess the potential applications of the stablecoin Open USD (OUSD) under Open Standard. OUSD was launched in June this year and has received support from over 140 global institutions, including Visa, Mastercard, and Google. It is positioned as a shared payment infrastructure, and after scaling, it will not charge minting or redemption fees, with most of the reserve earnings passed on to participating institutions.
