Analysis: Bhutan denies selling Bitcoin, on-chain data points to approximately $1 billion in suspected BTC outflows causing controversy

According to CoinDesk, on-chain analysis firm Arkham Data shows that over the past year, wallets associated with Bhutan have seen outflows of approximately $1 billion in Bitcoin, with funds flowing to multiple trading platforms and trading institutions, reducing their holdings from about 13,000 BTC to around 3,100 BTC.Arkham speculates that there may be ongoing selling behavior, and if the trend continues, the relevant addresses may be cleared of holdings before October 2026. However, Bhutan's sovereign fund Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) stated that "they do not recall any recent Bitcoin sales," did not respond to specific changes in on-chain addresses, and did not confirm the current holding size, only emphasizing that there are no additional comments. The report points out that some of the fund inflow paths are related to institutions such as Galaxy Digital and OKX, leading the market to interpret this as selling or over-the-counter trading behavior, but there are also possibilities of transfers into custody, collateralization, or structured trading that do not involve selling. Additionally, some trading institution personnel stated that there has been no clear selling recently.Furthermore, Bhutan's previous commitment to a reserve of 10,000 BTC for the "Gelephu Mindfulness City" project has also been questioned due to potential sell-offs. Currently, there is still significant disagreement regarding its actual holdings and mining operations.

The auditing platform Code4rena has announced its shutdown, and Immunefi will absorb its bug bounty clients and researchers

According to official news, the smart contract auditing platform Code4rena has announced that it will gradually cease operations, and the Web3 security company Immunefi will take over its clients and security researchers. Code4rena posted on social media that it has made the decision to shut down and stated that all ongoing competitions and bounty activities will be completed as usual, and existing collaborations will be "properly concluded." Immunefi stated that it will assist in migrating Code4rena's bounty projects, reward structures, and researchers to its platform.Code4rena is known for its "competitive auditing" model, where independent researchers compete to find vulnerabilities in smart contracts for rewards. This shutdown comes less than two years after blockchain security company Zellic acquired Code4rena in 2024. Previously, Code4rena raised $6 million from Paradigm in 2023 for auditing incentives and platform expansion. This shutdown comes at a difficult time for DeFi protocols and the security sector. Data from DefiLlama shows that there were over 20 crypto vulnerability incidents in April alone, setting a monthly record. JPMorgan analysts believe that ongoing DeFi security incidents are limiting major institutional investors from entering the market. Meanwhile, the total value locked in DeFi has decreased from about $160 billion in October to approximately $83 billion currently.

Hut 8 reaches a $200 million Bitcoin collateralized credit agreement, replacing the original Coinbase Credit financing arrangement

Bitcoin mining company and energy infrastructure platform Hut 8 announced that its subsidiary has reached a $200 million Bitcoin collateralized credit agreement with FalconX, replacing the previous financing arrangement from Coinbase Credit. The new financing has an annual fixed interest rate of 7.0%, a decrease of 200 basis points from the previous 9.0% financing from Coinbase; during the period from December 2023 to March 2025, the financing cost was as high as 10.5%–11.5%, with a cumulative reduction of up to 450 basis points, demonstrating progress in continuously optimizing debt costs. After this refinancing, Hut 8 has approximately 3,300 BTC converted to an uncollateralized state, valued at about $260 million based on the market value as of May 1, 2026, significantly enhancing its balance sheet flexibility and liquidity. Meanwhile, the credit structure maintains key risk control terms, including a limited recourse structure, a no-rehypothecation clause, and a fixed LTV threshold design, preventing additional margin calls triggered by a decline in Bitcoin prices.Hut 8's management stated that this financing not only reduces financing costs but also releases more uncollateralized Bitcoin assets, helping to enhance capital allocation flexibility across different market cycles; FalconX emphasized that this transaction reflects its ongoing expansion capabilities in institutional-level Bitcoin credit solutions.
