Data: YZi Labs ranked as the second largest active family office globally in August, participating in 10 financing rounds with a total scale of 42.1 million USD

According to the disclosure by Family Office New Intelligence, data service provider FINTRX tracking shows that in August, family offices participated in a total of 109 transactions, with the total disclosed financing amount reaching 16.9 billion USD. Among these, follow-on financing rounds, where family offices continued to invest in companies they already hold, accounted for 27% of the transaction count. This indicates that, compared to continuing to invest in existing projects, family offices are more active in seeking and investing in new projects. The most active institution in August was a16z Perennial.a16z Perennial was established in 2022 and is a joint family office under the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, providing wealth management and investment services for its core partners Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, as well as the entrepreneurs they support. As of the end of 2025, a16z Perennial manages approximately 2.74 billion USD in regulated assets. In August, a16z Perennial participated in a total of 17 transactions, ranking first; the total disclosed scale of the related financing rounds reached approximately 10.45 billion USD.Ranking second is YZi Labs, founded by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. YZi Labs manages over 10 billion USD in assets globally, with investment coverage including Web3, artificial intelligence, and healthcare, and invests in startups at various stages of development. In August, YZi Labs participated in 10 transactions, second only to a16z Perennial; however, the total scale of the financing rounds involved in these transactions was 42.1 million USD, largely appearing in large financing rounds of several hundred million or even several billion USD.It should be noted that the amounts mentioned above refer to the total financing scale of all investors in the related financing rounds, rather than the actual investment amount of the family offices themselves. Due to the strong privacy of family office investments, it is usually difficult to obtain the specific investment amount of a single family office in each transaction.

Tom Lee: Asset tokenization and Agentic AI may trigger a new round of ETH price increase

According to PRNewswire, Tom Lee, Chairman of the Bitcoin treasury company Bitmine, stated that during historical cryptocurrency bull market cycles, the ETH/BTC ratio typically rises as Ethereum's usage increases compared to Bitcoin, such as during the NFT boom of 2020-2021 and the stablecoins of 2025, both of which have been significant catalysts for the growth of Ethereum applications. In the next cycle, Wall Street's tokenization of assets and deployment on the blockchain, along with the use of Agentic AI on the blockchain, may further drive the ETH/BTC ratio higher.Since the third quarter of 2026, ETH has been the best-performing macro asset, outperforming the S&P 500 index by 5430 basis points as of last Friday; the three best-performing asset classes since June 30 have been ETH, BTC, and SOL, with cryptocurrency assets showing significant outperformance compared to other macro assets so far in the third quarter, which is expected to further attract institutions to increase their allocation to cryptocurrency assets.Tom Lee added that as we enter the last few months of 2026, the crypto market faces several positive catalysts, including the anticipated vote on the CLARITY Act in mid-September, South Korean investors re-entering the crypto market and shifting from AI stocks to cryptocurrencies, and what he believes will be a bottoming out of the "four-year cycle" in the coming weeks. These factors may pave the way for a large influx of institutional funds in the last few months of 2026.

first_img Brazilian Bank Expands Cryptocurrency Services, Regulatory Framework Takes Shape

Brazilian banks are expanding their cryptocurrency services for customers. According to Folha de S.Paulo, Brazil's largest asset management bank, Itaú, now offers 15 types of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the US dollar stablecoin USDC, through its investment app. Brazil's largest fintech company, Nubank, has listed 28 types, and Banco do Brasil, the most profitable state-owned bank in Brazil, has seen transaction volumes exceed 11 million reais (approximately 2.1 million USD) since launching direct purchase services for Bitcoin and Ethereum in January of this year. However, customer cryptocurrency transactions have not entered the banks' balance sheets. A document from the central bank dated March 2026 shows that Brazilian banks hold zero virtual assets on their books. Over the past year, Itaú, Bradesco, Santander, Banco do Brasil, and Nubank have all expanded their cryptocurrency product lines, while the Brazilian cryptocurrency market has also reached record sizes. According to data from the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, Receita Federal, Brazilians transferred 505.5 billion reais (approximately 98.7 billion USD) through cryptocurrencies in 2025, more than five times that of 2020, with corporate transactions accounting for 98.3%.This move by banks coincides with the implementation of regulations. In 2022, Brazil passed the "Virtual Asset Legal Framework," granting regulatory authority to the central bank. Three resolutions issued in November 2025 require any institution allowing customers to trade, hold, or send cryptocurrencies to obtain a license, meet minimum capital requirements, and segregate customer accounts, with a compliance deadline of October 30, 2026.
