first_img The perpetual contract platform Extended announced the XTEN token economy

The team behind Revolut has launched the perpetual contract platform Extended and released the XTEN token economic description. XTEN is the native token of the Extended ecosystem, with a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens, minted all at once at genesis, and the supply cap cannot be increased. The community airdrop allocates 300 million tokens, accounting for 30% of the total supply, which will be fully unlocked at the Token Generation Event (TGE). The portion unlocked at TGE accounts for approximately 32.9% of the total supply, with a maximum circulating supply of 30% of the total. XTEN staking will go live simultaneously with TGE, with League level thresholds starting from 500 XTEN.Founders, team members, and investors will collectively receive 500 million tokens, which will not be unlocked before the end of a 12-month cliff period. After the cliff period, the founders and team will release tokens linearly in 36 equal installments from the 13th month to the 48th month; investors will unlock 25% in the 12th month, with the remaining 75% released monthly until the 48th month. The ecosystem allocation is 200 million tokens, of which 150 million will enter the emission reserve as the sole source of staking rewards, and emissions will stop once this reserve is exhausted; 50 million tokens will be allocated to the ecosystem fund, with 28.589286 million tokens unlocked at TGE but stored in a public wallet, with further announcements to be made before deployment. In the community allocation, 17.384355 million tokens correspond to the internal market-making platform of the operating entity X10 Ltd., obtained according to the points system, and the tokens are owned by X10 Ltd.To receive the airdrop, users must sign the terms within the app; the signing window will be announced separately, and any unaccepted allocations before the window closes will be transferred to the ecosystem fund. The staking balance determines the discount on transaction fees, additional yield multipliers for the Vault, deposit limits, and alliance revenue multipliers, with staking discounts ranging from 5% for Pawn tier to 30% for King tier. Unstaking will have a 7-day queue, during which no rewards will be counted, and it will not affect the level. XTEN will natively support Circle's CCTP, and Extended claims it is the first third-party token to launch on Arc with native CCTP support. Due to considerations related to MiCA, XTEN will not be available for EU users on Extended at the time of spot launch, but European point holders can still claim, hold, stake, and transfer. The TGE date, claiming window, and emission schedule will be announced separately, with the issuer being Extended Ecosystem Limited, and the white paper has been reported to the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

first_img Claude Code VS Code extension implanted with SSH backdoor

On October 30, security researcher Paul McCarty (6mile) posted on the OpenSource Malware blog that Anthropic's Claude Code VS Code extension was tampered with that day, and a malicious version 2.1.313 was published to the Open VSX registry. The extension is identified as anthropic.claude-code@2.1.313, and a 66-line loader was inserted before the normal extension code in the main JavaScript package. The researchers stated that currently, only the analyzed Open VSX version has been confirmed as a malicious sample, and a threat report has been submitted for the same version in the Microsoft VS Code marketplace out of caution. The article states that the unpacked extension and bundled binaries are consistent with the normal version, with differences only in extension.js. The extension loads this file after VS Code starts and when the Webview opens, triggering without the user needing to initiate a Claude conversation. The loader writes an attacker key labeled svc-telemetry to the user's SSH configuration, attempts to enable local SSH services, establishes a reverse tunnel to 134.209.82.225, and sets persistence on macOS, Linux, and Windows, then sends host reconnaissance information to port 8099 at that address via unencrypted HTTP. No additional executable files or scripts are downloaded during the injection phase. The researchers stated that the owner of the affected Open VSX extension is Anthropic employee Igor Kofman, and it is currently unclear whether his account or another release link was exploited; Dean Hardcastle informed him at the time of the incident. The article clarifies that the source of the analyzed directory has not been established, and the related findings cannot independently prove that Anthropic's official marketplace or distribution infrastructure has been compromised; the identity of the attacker and the ownership of the infrastructure have also not been verified. The text suggests searching for related file paths, key annotations, and startup items, blocking ports 22 and 8099 of 134.209.82.225, and rotating credentials accessible by affected accounts on a clean system.

first_img The Cardano Foundation urges the European Union not to extend MiCA regulations to DeFi and staking

The Cardano Foundation calls on the European Union not to introduce new independent regulatory rules for DeFi and staking, advocating that existing financial laws should regulate based on the function and risk of activities rather than the technology used. The foundation outlined its 19-page opinion submitted to the European Commission on September 30 in a blog post released on Wednesday, urging a distinction between direct participation in decentralized networks and financial services provided by intermediaries, especially those involving the custody or control of user assets. The foundation stated that regulation should follow the substance of the activity, the functions performed, and the risks generated, rather than the technology relied upon to conduct the activity. The foundation pointed out that Cardano users can delegate native ADA tokens to help secure the network without relinquishing custody or locking up tokens, and this form of direct participation should be treated differently from staking services operated by intermediaries. The opinion also calls for a clearer distinction between the EU MiCA regulations and existing financial laws, warning that overlapping regulatory requirements and inconsistent interpretations among member states could create uncertainty for crypto businesses. This move comes as EU regulators consider expanding oversight of crypto services. In September, the European Securities and Markets Authority suggested adding additional safeguards for staking and lending activities and establishing a new category of regulated services for companies providing access to DeFi protocols. Additionally, the Cardano Foundation, along with five other blockchain organizations, sent a joint letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 20, urging it to formally recognize digital commodities as non-securities under the proposed crypto framework.

first_img Australia's ASIC plans to extend CFD investor protection to crypto-settled derivatives

According to Cointelegraph, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has proposed to expand the regulatory scope of Contracts for Difference (CFD) to include derivatives settled using digital assets.ASIC aims to add contracts settled through the transfer of digital assets to its definition of CFDs, rather than being limited to contracts settled in cash or offset transactions, provided that these contracts meet other identification criteria for CFDs. If the proposal is approved, Australian traders using crypto-settled CFDs will receive the same protections as cash-settled CFD traders.ASIC has made it clear that certain cryptocurrency futures and options with fixed expiration dates will remain outside this framework. CFDs allow traders to speculate on price fluctuations without holding the underlying asset. The current framework implemented in Australia since 2021 includes safeguards such as leverage limits, mandatory margin calls, and negative balance protection, which limits customer losses to the funds within their CFD trading accounts.ASIC is seeking feedback from the industry and stakeholders on the proposed expansion and revisions, with a deadline of November 9. This move comes as Australia strengthens its broader regulatory framework for digital assets. In April of this year, Australia legislated to include cryptocurrency exchanges and tokenized custody platforms within its financial services licensing framework, with the new system set to take effect on April 9, 2027. ASIC has also required crypto companies relying on temporary enforcement exemptions under existing financial services laws to apply for licenses or seek changes to existing licenses by September 30.
