first_img GSR invested 100 million USD to launch the on-chain vault business Hare

Cryptocurrency trading and market-making institution GSR announced an investment of 100 million dollars to launch the on-chain credit business Hare, which is built in collaboration with the liquidity distribution platform Turtle, responsible for creating and managing on-chain vaults. GSR's multi-year commitment is primarily provided in the form of credit lines, with its own funds serving as anchor liquidity to enter Hare's products first, followed by the introduction of external investors.Hare initially launched two products supported by the lending protocol Aave: Hare USD Earn, which receives mainstream dollar stablecoins in a single vault, and Hare Gold Earn, which allows holders of Paxos tokenized gold products PAXG and PAXGy to earn returns, with Paxos Labs participating in the collaboration on gold products. Hare's CEO Connor Milner stated that GSR's commitment is considered deployed capital, allowing issuers to access liquidity from day one, and allocators can also see GSR's own funds in the same vault as theirs. Milner previously served as a senior director at London DeFi hedge fund Re7 Capital.Vaults are becoming an important component of on-chain finance, with investors depositing assets into smart contracts, and curators deciding how to deploy funds in lending markets and other strategies. According to data from Vaults.fyi, as of July, 788 curated vaults managed a total of 8.6 billion dollars in assets.

first_img GSR Market Director: Many tokenization platforms lack real trading volume, and speculation has exceeded actual usage

According to a report by Cryptonomist, GSR's market director Spencer Hallarn stated in an interview that the hype around tokenization has surpassed the actual usage on many platforms. The issue lies not in the market's demand for tokenized assets, but in the design of the platforms themselves. He pointed out that many walled garden-style tokenization platforms with strict KYC requirements generally lack meaningful trading volume, as cumbersome access and compliance processes limit activity.Hallarn believes that the real opportunity is not in tokenizing for the sake of tokenization, but in fixing the underlying pipelines of traditional banking and settlement systems, specifically the infrastructure for transferring funds and assets between institutions. This would make tokenization more of an infrastructure repair rather than merely a narrative of crypto products. He also mentioned that the stagnation in the crypto market this year is largely due to funds shifting towards AI infrastructure, with large tech companies raising substantial amounts of capital for AI infrastructure through equity financing, tightening the liquidity of various assets, and crypto is no exception. Its clients are also shifting from chasing short-term momentum to long-term budget planning, over-the-counter hedging, and RWA. If AI investment cools down and the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates, liquidity is expected to improve and support Bitcoin prices.

GSR invested $57 million to acquire Autonomous and Architech, entering the cryptocurrency full lifecycle capital market

Cryptocurrency market maker GSR announced the acquisition of Autonomous and Architech for $57 million, building an integrated capital market and fund management platform that covers the entire lifecycle of projects from launch to expansion. After the acquisition is completed, Autonomous will continue to operate independently, providing support for the launch and operation of tokenized organizations; Architech will become a core component of GSR's digital asset consulting business. This acquisition marks GSR's further transformation into a "one-stop capital market service provider for crypto," strengthening its layout in the institutional-grade infrastructure and full-cycle service fields. This integration aims to address the current issues in the crypto industry regarding the decentralization of services and inconsistent incentives in areas such as token issuance, governance design, liquidity, financing, and listing strategies, by providing collaborative support through a unified framework. Additionally, clients will have access to GSR's existing institutional trading, derivatives, and asset management capabilities. GSR stated that the platform will also focus on enhancing the treasury management capabilities of crypto projects, covering liquidity planning, cash flow forecasting, risk management, and asset allocation strategies, promoting the transition of crypto funds from passive holding to sustainable returns and diversified allocation.
