Solana staking protocol Marinade's staking volume for SOL increased to 7.94 million coins in the third quarter

Marinade, the Solana staking service protocol, released its Q3 2026 report. As of September 30, the amount of SOL staked was 7.94 million, a quarter-over-quarter increase of 21.2%, mainly driven by the non-custodial native staking product Native and the institutional-focused Select. The amount staked in Native increased by 47.3% quarter-over-quarter to approximately 3.77 million, while Select grew by 38.7% to about 1.68 million, and mSOL decreased by 6.8% to around 2.27 million.Revenue for the third quarter was approximately $1 million, corresponding to 10,918 SOL, a quarter-over-quarter increase of 25.9%, primarily from validator margin settlement income, which grew by 38.1% quarter-over-quarter. In the staking auction market, 48 out of 51 epochs in the quarter had yields higher than the Solana staking index, with an average yield before Marinade fees of 5.93%, compared to 5.67% for the index during the same period. In governance, since the implementation of MIP-22 in July, Marinade has used 10% of auction fees to repurchase MNDE on the open market. In the third quarter, a total of 4.2 million MNDE was repurchased with 906.6 SOL, and the first distribution opened on October 1. The report also disclosed that on September 25, attackers exploited a vulnerability in the DAO voting process to submit two malicious proposals, one of which involved transferring DAO treasury assets; the council vetoed both proposals within about 6 hours, and the fix was completed that night, with no funds being transferred.

DWF Labs: Bitcoin spot ETF fund flows lag behind the market, making it difficult to predict future rises and falls

According to a report by Cointelegraph, DWF Labs pointed out in a research report released on Thursday that the daily capital flow of the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF is difficult to predict for Bitcoin's subsequent trends, with investors more inclined to buy after price increases and withdraw during declines. The study covers 694 trading days since the launch of the U.S. Bitcoin spot ETF in January 2024: in 8 instances where the Bitcoin price fell by 15%, there were net outflows of ETF funds in 7 of those cases; while in all 9 instances where the price rose by 15%, there were net inflows of funds.DWF Labs concluded that ETF capital flows are more about confirming market trends rather than predicting them in advance. Data shows that the correlation coefficient of the day's ETF capital flow with the price changes of Bitcoin over the previous 5 trading days is 0.54, but the correlation coefficient with the price changes over the subsequent 5 trading days is only 0.03. From October 2025 to February 2026, the net outflow from Bitcoin ETFs was approximately $6.9 billion, and during the market decline from May to June 2026, the net outflow was about $8.2 billion.DWF Labs also noted that some ETF trades may involve buying fund shares while simultaneously shorting Bitcoin through futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) as a hedging strategy, so the capital flow does not directly reflect investors' true bullish or bearish positions.

first_img Matter Labs launched Prividium Commander to support the implementation of banking blockchain

Alex Gluchowski, CEO of Matter Labs, announced Prividium Commander at Money20/20 USA, pointing out that while most banks have tested blockchain, only a few have truly put it into production services. The crux of the issue lies in operational processes rather than the technology itself, including aspects such as issuance control, transfer processing, audit requirements, and compliance workflows.Prividium Commander is positioned as a unified control plane, allowing institutions to manage permissions, configure token functionalities, and set operational strategies all in one place, while also integrating with existing traditional financial systems of banks and being compatible with both public and private chain infrastructures. This product is built on Matter Labs' permissioned privacy blockchain platform, Prividium, which is based on ZK Stack technology, allowing institutions to run private chains on their own infrastructure and anchor transactions to Ethereum through zero-knowledge proofs, achieving Ethereum-level settlement finality without disclosing customer balances and transaction details.Matter Labs open-sourced the Prividium Core permission engine in September 2026, with the Deutsche Bundesbank being the first testing party. Cari Network has chosen Prividium to build a multi-bank tokenized deposit platform, with participants including regional banks such as Huntington and M&T Bank, planning to go live later in 2026. By mid-2026, Matter Labs had fully shifted its focus to the institutional privacy infrastructure of Prividium.

first_img The Cardano Foundation urges the European Union not to extend MiCA regulations to DeFi and staking

The Cardano Foundation calls on the European Union not to introduce new independent regulatory rules for DeFi and staking, advocating that existing financial laws should regulate based on the function and risk of activities rather than the technology used. The foundation outlined its 19-page opinion submitted to the European Commission on September 30 in a blog post released on Wednesday, urging a distinction between direct participation in decentralized networks and financial services provided by intermediaries, especially those involving the custody or control of user assets. The foundation stated that regulation should follow the substance of the activity, the functions performed, and the risks generated, rather than the technology relied upon to conduct the activity. The foundation pointed out that Cardano users can delegate native ADA tokens to help secure the network without relinquishing custody or locking up tokens, and this form of direct participation should be treated differently from staking services operated by intermediaries. The opinion also calls for a clearer distinction between the EU MiCA regulations and existing financial laws, warning that overlapping regulatory requirements and inconsistent interpretations among member states could create uncertainty for crypto businesses. This move comes as EU regulators consider expanding oversight of crypto services. In September, the European Securities and Markets Authority suggested adding additional safeguards for staking and lending activities and establishing a new category of regulated services for companies providing access to DeFi protocols. Additionally, the Cardano Foundation, along with five other blockchain organizations, sent a joint letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 20, urging it to formally recognize digital commodities as non-securities under the proposed crypto framework.
