first_img Ripple integrates the Privy wallet under Stripe with the XRP Ledger, AI payments exceed 14 million transactions

Ripple announced the integration of the wallet technology from Privy, a subsidiary of Stripe, into the XRP Ledger, allowing financial applications and AI agents to create accounts, hold cryptocurrency assets, and complete payments without users needing to manage wallet software themselves. Developers can create wallets within their own products and authorize transfers involving XRP, the US dollar stablecoin RLUSD issued by Ripple, and other network assets. Privy is responsible for the wallet infrastructure, reducing the workload for application developers while supporting the export of private keys or mnemonic phrases for wallet migration to other platforms. This integration also allows AI agents or automated bots to hold funds and automatically pay for online data and service fees. Privy documentation states that wallets running on enterprise servers can allow software to hold and spend funds, including purchasing data access services through the x402 payment standard. J. Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, stated that the network has processed over 13 million agent payments via x402, accounting for about 25% of ledger activity. Data from the XRPL AI Hub operated by payment infrastructure developer t54 shows that as of Wednesday, cumulative transactions exceeded 14.3 million, covering 169 registered merchants. However, the cumulative transfer amount is much smaller than the scale suggested by the number of transactions, with the dashboard recording cumulative payments of approximately 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD, most transaction amounts being very small. Ripple began providing related tools to developers in June and expanded support for payment standards developed by Stripe and payment blockchain Tempo in September.

Alex Lazarow: Stripe, Mastercard, and Circle acquired three stablecoin companies within two years, with a total transaction amount exceeding 3 billion USD

According to Forbes, venture capitalist Alex Lazarow wrote that in the past two years, Stripe, Mastercard, and Circle have acquired American stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge, British BVNK, and Singapore cross-border payment platform Tazapay, respectively, with a total transaction value exceeding $3 billion. These three companies were established between 2020 and 2022, raising a total of approximately $200 million, indicating that stablecoin payment infrastructure is becoming a field where traditional payment giants and cryptocurrency companies are competing to establish a presence.Among them, Stripe announced in 2024 that it would acquire Bridge for slightly over $1 billion; the total value of Mastercard's acquisition of BVNK could reach up to $1.8 billion, including $1.5 billion in base consideration and $300 million in contingent consideration; Circle agreed to acquire Tazapay for $400 million in stock, with the transaction expected to be completed in 2027. The growth in stablecoin adoption, the gradual clarification of regulatory frameworks, and the rising demand for real-time cross-border payments are the main factors driving mergers and acquisitions.Data shows that in 2025, the adjusted transaction volume of stablecoins is expected to grow by 91% year-on-year, reaching $10.9 trillion, close to Visa's $14.2 trillion; the scale of real-world payments is expected to more than double, reaching approximately $390 billion. These transactions reflect that acquirers value not only stablecoin technology but also verified business scale, payment networks, and compliance qualifications. As stablecoin payment infrastructure matures, applications such as dollar accounts, stablecoin payment cards, and cross-border remittances are also emerging, and in the future, more local infrastructure companies similar to Bridge and BVNK may be acquired in various regions around the world.

first_img Stripe plans to expand its stablecoin card business to over 100 countries by the end of the year

According to CoinDesk, global payment company Stripe is expanding its stablecoin card business worldwide, betting that the digital dollar can become another payment method for consumers and businesses beyond traditional currency.Henri Stern, head of Stripe's stablecoin and crypto business, stated that the company expects its stablecoin card program to cover over 100 countries by the end of the year. Current clients include cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, fintech company Ramp, and payment app Morse. According to Paymentscan data, the stablecoin spending through cards last month was approximately $1.2 billion, doubling from a year ago.Stern mentioned that Stripe's strategy is to integrate stablecoins into its existing infrastructure. Since 2018, the company has issued over 400 million cards, processing hundreds of billions of dollars in card transaction volume. Its stablecoin business combines card issuance with the stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge, which was acquired for $1.1 billion in 2024.Additionally, Stripe has acquired the crypto wallet infrastructure company Privy and partnered with crypto investment firm Paradigm to develop a blockchain called Tempo specifically designed for payments, while also being a founding investor in the Open Standard that is developing Open USD.Stern noted that many projects currently use Circle's USDC, but Stripe intends to remain "completely stablecoin neutral and completely blockchain neutral." He stated that stablecoins should be another option within existing products for businesses, rather than a separate crypto technology stack that needs to be learned.

first_img Ripple's new developer toolkit supports the AI payment standards of Stripe and Tempo

Ripple announced the expansion of its XRP Ledger developer suite to support the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) co-developed by Stripe and Tempo, as well as the open wallet standard. The XRPL AI Starter Kit version 1.1 adds this support, enabling AI agents to use tokens like XRP and RLUSD to pay for online services such as data and computing power. Jazzi Cooper, head of RippleX products, stated that Ripple's goal is for XRP and RLUSD to become the preferred payment options for developers when building applications.MPP allows AI agents to pay on demand: the service provider quotes a price for the request, and after the agent authorizes the payment, the service provider delivers the resources. This standard was co-authored by payment company Stripe and payment chain Tempo. Ripple has supported another network payment standard, x402, since June, and now supports both standards simultaneously. The open wallet standard allows agents to initiate transactions without accessing private keys and includes security mechanisms such as spending limits and whitelisted destinations.XRP payment channels are suitable for small, high-frequency payment scenarios, allowing agents to deposit XRP once, run hundreds of payment queries, and authorize small expenditures sequentially, enabling the service provider to collect cumulative payments without having to put each query on-chain. Currently, single payments support tokens like RLUSD, but continuous payment sessions are limited to XRP, and incorporating stablecoins into the channel depends on the proposed ledger upgrade. This payment software is still in the testing phase.
