first_img Karpathy: The cognitive gap in LLM capabilities is widening

Artificial intelligence researcher, OpenAI co-founder, and former Tesla AI director Andrej Karpathy stated on X that the gap in public understanding of the capabilities of large language models is widening, evolving from two groups talking past each other to a steeper funnel. He reiterated related posts from April and provided a layered estimate based on exposure.Karpathy noted that approximately 6 billion people (about 75% of the global population) have had little to no exposure to large language models; around 1 to 2 billion people (about 20%) only occasionally use free versions of ChatGPT-like products, often viewing them as better search or writing aids, with many non-technical individuals and professionals outside of mathematics and coding considering their utility limited. About 20 million people (0.2%) use cutting-edge models professionally in mathematics and coding, witnessing complex projects that previously took weeks or months being completed by agents under prompts, including building, copying, translating applications, and decompiling applications from binary. He mentioned that less than a year ago, he was still manually writing code word by word.Karpathy also stated that around 5,000 people (about 0.00006%) have internal access to cutting-edge systems. The previews seen externally involve thousands of agents collaborating for weeks on large software projects, cybersecurity, scientific discoveries, and mathematical frontiers, with human reviews starting to lag behind; for instance, events related to OpenAI and Hugging Face are still being sorted out months later, and mathematicians may spend a long time studying 722 cutting-edge mathematical manuscripts. He believes that this funnel is driven by the scale of problems and time spans, the prominence of capabilities in digitizable and verifiable fields, and the differences between free, paid, and internal access.

first_img Fidelity Executive: Institutions Have No Turning Back on the Path to On-Chain Tokenization Future

According to Cointelegraph, Matthew Horne, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at Fidelity Investments, stated during a panel discussion at the Longitude conference in Singapore that there is "truly no turning back" as institutional forces have driven assets towards an on-chain future over the past 18 months. He pointed out that tokenization brings structural advantages to financial institutions and helps asset management companies reach new markets, with U.S. asset management companies particularly motivated to move assets on-chain.Ka Yan Chan, Head of Digital Asset Development at UBS, mentioned that government bonds and stocks, as core assets for portfolio construction, could bring billions of dollars on-chain. She believes that what will truly drive the scale from hundreds of billions to trillions will be market infrastructure participants like the Federal Reserve or DTCC taking the lead in transforming the custody layer into a tokenized platform, upon which industry participants can build a distribution layer.Data shows that demand for tokenized assets has increased by 41% in the past 30 days, with the number of holders surpassing 493,000. In December 2025, the SEC issued a "no-action" letter to a DTCC subsidiary, allowing it to provide new tokenization services for the securities market; in September, the SEC approved a temporary exemption allowing tokenized U.S. stocks to be traded on specific on-chain venues. Over the past 30 days, more than $1.2 billion has moved on-chain, with the total amount of stablecoins and tokenized assets exceeding $323 billion. Geoff Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at Standard Chartered Bank, predicted in August that tokenized real-world assets could reach $4 trillion by the end of 2028.

first_img Self-proclaimed "Godfather" Adam Iza was sentenced to 78 months for fraud against Meta and hiring police officers

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California stated that a 26-year-old man, Adam Iza, who calls himself the "Godfather," has been sentenced to 78 months in prison and must pay $23.4 million in restitution. He pleaded guilty in January 2025 to charges of conspiracy to violate rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion, and has been in custody since September 2024. This sentence will run concurrently with the 15-year sentence he received last month for an attempted Bitcoin robbery, which will not increase his actual time served. From August 2021 to April 2022, Iza hired off-duty Los Angeles County police officers as private security and admitted to conspiring with them to obtain law enforcement confidential records and personal data of individuals he had disputes with, obtaining court-authorized search warrants to track these individuals, and having the officers intimidate and threaten them. The Department of Justice stated that five former officers have been convicted for working for him, including 42-year-old Eric Chase Saavedra, who set up a security company providing these officers, and was sentenced to 21 months; 45-year-old Michael David Coberg, who assisted in extorting rivals and arranged false drug arrests, is serving a 63-month sentence. The prosecution wrote in the sentencing memorandum that wealthy individuals cannot buy "search warrants, arrests, badges, or guns" for private disputes. In another fraud case, since December 2020, Iza gained access to a Meta Business Manager account and its associated credit line, reselling it to advertising companies, with Meta clients being charged for ads they never purchased. After discovering this, Meta refunded the clients and absorbed the losses.

first_img Cathie Wood: Investors should pay attention to the capital flow of AI agents

ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood stated at a summit hosted by Robinhood in Houston that investors have traditionally "followed developers" to gauge technological trends, but now they may need to "follow agents." The AI agents she refers to are software that can perform tasks on behalf of humans, rather than just answering questions or generating text. This statement came towards the end of a discussion on AI, private markets, and technology investments. As AI agents shift from answering questions to executing operations and spending funds, the type of financial infrastructure they will use has become a focal point. SharpLink co-CEO and former BlackRock digital asset head Joseph Chalom believes that the financial system used by AI agents should not be controlled by a few banks or tech companies. He cited the example of authorized agents booking hotels, pointing out that users should be able to set spending limits, revoke authorizations at any time, and view the agents' transaction records. Additionally, users should be able to transfer the agents' identities, financial information, and permissions between different financial service providers, similar to mobile number portability.Chalom believes that open blockchains like Ethereum can provide a universal financial network for different agents, applications, and companies to use collectively, eliminating the need for each AI company to build its own closed payment system. A report from BlackRock in September also noted that AI agents could create new demands for machine-oriented payment systems, such as payment API calls, purchasing data, or renting computing power, with stablecoins and blockchain being one of the viable solutions. Coinbase's x402 is designed to enable machines to pay for online services like data or APIs.

first_img BitMart announced the preliminary redemption plan, and users can choose from three exit paths

The cryptocurrency exchange BitMart has released a preliminary intention plan, stating that it will review its assets and liabilities and formulate response arrangements starting from August 2026. The plan was formed during the initial due diligence conducted by Alvarez & Marsal and White & Case; users can choose front-end allocation or potentially higher recoveries from sources that may be recovered and liquidated later. The management team stated that they will continue to cooperate.BitMart stated that the total market value of the cryptocurrency market decreased in 2026, with volume manipulation groups profiting from commission and zero slippage policies in contract business, while fee-based services turned into losses; a hacker attack in December 2021 resulted in a balance sheet gap of approximately $319.5 million based on the value as of December 4, 2021. Starting from May 2026, social media attacks triggered panic withdrawals, and related personnel faced risks of personal information leakage. After evaluating a $10 million liquidity proposal from an investor, the management deemed it insufficient to cover operational pressures and gaps. The plan proposes to convert outstanding account balances into dollars based on the weighted average price from July 26, 2026, to the time of recording, to be verified by an independent party appointed by the court. Users can receive a proportional front-end allocation of fiat currency, USDC, PYUSD, USDT, and liquid assets such as BTC, ETH, SOL, or participate in the recovery of stolen assets by exchanging for recovery tokens at a rate of 1 unit per $1, or exchange for continuation tokens that can be traded on decentralized exchanges, corresponding to investment rights, non-standard asset liquidation, and a portion of distributable profits after business restart. In the next three to four weeks, feedback will be solicited from the top 50 users, and a report on the expected recovery ratios for each option will be compiled.

X-Agent Hackathon Emerges: The Prototype of Agent Economy - AI Begins to Independently Accept Orders, Refuse Transactions, and Purchase Models

The ongoing X-Agent AI MCP Hackathon has received nearly 40 projects, with some public works turning work decisions, capital management, and inter-machine trading into runnable products. X-Agent introduces three cases: BountyProof checks whether tasks are open, claimed, have relevant submissions, and the authenticity of rewards before the Agent accepts GitHub bounty tasks, with the core question being "Is this work worth doing?"Abstain empowers the Agent with the "do not trade" capability, returning execution, abandonment, or no trade based on preset rules before order execution. sumplus helps the Agent choose suitable model service solutions based on task context, output scale, model capability, and invocation costs, making the Agent an autonomous buyer of models, computing power, data, and API services. The three projects correspond to the foundational economic behaviors of the Agent: accepting work, utilizing funds, and purchasing services, pointing to work, capital, and trading primitives. X-Agent believes that a true Agent economy requires a complete cycle of "building, deploying, operating, discovering, invoking, paying, earning revenue, and distributing," positioning itself as the application layer of the Agent economy. This hackathon is still in the review stage, and the mentioned projects are only for public case reference, not representing shortlisted or award results.
