CoinShares: Digital asset investment products saw an outflow of 434 million dollars this week

According to the CoinShares market report, the U.S. September CPI rose by 0.6% month-on-month and 3.7% year-on-year, exceeding the market expectation of 3.6%. Gasoline prices increased by 9.1% for the month, accounting for about half of the overall increase. The core CPI rose by 0.3% month-on-month and 2.6% year-on-year. During the same period, U.S. September retail sales grew by 0.8% month-on-month, higher than the expected approximately 0.3%, with August data revised up to 1.3%. However, retail sales excluding gasoline only grew by 0.2%, lower than August's 1%.The report pointed out that inflation remains high, and economic demand also remains resilient, leading the market to reprice the Federal Reserve's policy in a hawkish manner, causing Bitcoin and the overall digital asset market to decline. Data shows that since the CPI was released, market sentiment has significantly weakened, with global digital asset investment products seeing an outflow of $434 million so far this week. Regarding interest rate expectations, as of October 15, Polymarket data shows that the probability of the Federal Reserve maintaining interest rates at the October meeting is about 75%, while the probability of a 25 basis point rate hike is about 25%. After the CPI release, the futures market clearly shifted to a hawkish stance, with expectations for another rate hike within the year rising significantly.

Survey: Wealthy investors from the G7 have a cryptocurrency holding ratio of about 10%, with most planning to continue increasing their allocation

CoinShares' latest survey shows that among wealthy investors in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland, the majority already hold cryptocurrency assets, averaging about 10% of their portfolios. The survey covered 2,230 investors with at least $500,000 in investable assets, with Sweden's cryptocurrency holding rate at 54%, while the rates for the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland are around 70%.Among investors who already hold digital assets, at least 85% in five of the seven countries indicated plans to increase their holdings by 2026, with the proportion reaching 91% in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. The decline in the cryptocurrency market in February this year did not significantly weaken investment willingness; among respondents from the seven countries, more believed that the market sell-off actually increased their willingness to invest than those who felt it decreased their willingness. The survey indicates that long-term appreciation and asset diversification are the main reasons for investing in cryptocurrency assets, with only 6% of respondents primarily viewing themselves as short-term traders.Bitcoin remains the most widely held digital asset, with an average of 80% of cryptocurrency investors holding BTC; 77% of respondents believe BTC will play an important role in the future global financial system, and 79% support strengthening regulation of the digital asset market. Meanwhile, about 40% of respondents in Switzerland, France, the United States, and Germany who work with financial advisors believe that advisors are overly cautious about digital assets. CoinShares stated that the interest of wealthy investors in cryptocurrency assets is forming a stark contrast to the cautious attitude of the traditional wealth management industry.

first_img CoinShares researcher: Germany's cryptocurrency adoption is progressing well, while the UK has fallen behind

According to Cointelegraph, CoinShares crypto researcher Luke Nolan stated on the Chain Reaction program that cryptocurrency adoption in Germany is making "very good progress" through family offices, wealth management institutions, and younger investors, while the UK is "still very behind," mainly due to regulatory lag. Nolan pointed out that the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) only lifted the ban on crypto exchange-traded products less than a year ago, and its digital asset market is still in the "nascent" stage. In terms of relevant data, Germany currently has 89 licensed crypto asset service providers, accounting for 25.5% of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) MiCA registered companies; in June this year, Germany also ranked first in the EU with 57 authorized crypto companies.Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank stated on Wednesday that it is awaiting regulatory approval to launch crypto custody services for institutional clients in Europe, expecting to obtain a license in October; Landesbank Baden-Württemberg is also set to provide crypto custody services in April 2024 through a partnership with Bitpanda. In contrast, the FCA released final guidance on Wednesday clarifying when crypto activities need to be authorized and plans to open license applications on September 30, with the new system set to take effect on October 25, 2027.Additionally, the FCA issued stop notices on Thursday to three London locations suspected of assisting illegal peer-to-peer crypto trading; the UK Parliament approved regulations in February to bring digital assets under FCA regulation and finalized a package of rules in June.
